Motorcycle badly damaged after colliding with lorry at Kaki Bukit

A STOMPer was jogging at Kaki Bukit when he came across the aftermath of an accident involving a lorry and a motorcycle.
In an email to STOMP today (Jul 15), the STOMPer says:
“This morning when I was jogging around Kaki Bukit area, I saw many people standing and looking, so I went over to see.
“It was an accident. I asked someone what happened.
“He said there was an accident involving a concrete lorry and a motorcycle.
“He said that nothing happened to the rider. Only the bike was damaged. The rider is the guy wearing the cap and black jacket.
“The police were standing near the bike.”
STOMP is contacting the police for more information. -

Inconsiderate contractor parks truck on pavement

This contractor parks his truck on the pavement everyday and causes obstruction to pedestrians and residents of Queen Condominium.
Steven told STOMP via email last night (Jul 16):
"This inconsiderate truck driver parks in the walkway everyday, causing obstruction and danger in public to passers-by.
"Passers-by have to walk one big round on the muddy grass if it rains." -

STOMPer sp2522 said this security Guard at Wisma Atria chased him away for trying to top up his cashcard, but allowed a lorry driver to park for 10 minutes.
Said the STOMPer:
"An unfair security guard at Wisma Atria chased me away when I stopped my vehicle to top up my cashcard.
"He told me off and said he would refer me to the traffic police.
"So I moved away. But he let another lorry (as seen in the photo) park there as I moved off.
"And it was a good 10 minutes that he left his vehicle there and walked off somewhere.
"I agree that it was not right for me to stop my vehicle to top up cashcard.
"I asked permission and he rejected.
"So I moved off. I was genuine.
"But what this security guard did was terribly unfair.
"If the rule is not to allow anyone to stop there, then why did he chase me away but let the lorry driver park there?" -

This lorry carrying more than 10 passengers in rainy weather was spotted by STOMPer Sekarang, who says that the company in charge is very irresponsible to transport their workers in such unsafe conditions.
The lorry was spotted travelling along Dunearn Road in morning rush hour traffic on July 15.
As it was raining, the workers had to hold onto canvas and cardboard pieces while sitting unsecured at the back of the vehicle.
In an email, STOMPer Sekarang says:
“On July 15, at 8.11 am, my family and I were on our way to work along Dunearn Road (flyover beside SCGS), when we saw this Toyota pickup (GBB 5373 G) overloaded with about 12-15 workers.
“It was raining heavily and the road was slippery so one had to drive during the morning rush hour with care and consideration.
“The workers, crammed into the pickup, were huddled against one another, holding onto drabs of canvas and flimsy cardboards to shield themselves from the rain.
“Like many pickups ferrying employees in their back, this pickup subjected its passengers to safety risks. The workers had no proper safety harnesses to secure themselves to the vehicle.
“This is a clear breach of road safety regulations, especially in light of the weather and unsafe road condition.
“Employees are entitled to be protected by their employers in organised commutation for work purposes.
“Under these circumstances, they have the right to travel safely on public roads and at the very least, be properly sheltered from elements of the weather which can compromise their health -- and consequently, affect their performance at work, particularly if it requires physical rigour.” -
Stubborn driver refuses to move lorry, blocking exit

The inconsiderate driver of this lorry not only blocked the exit at the Whampoa Drive market, he also refused to move it, forcing a STOMPer to dangerously exit via the entrance.
Even though the man claimed he was unloading goods, the sender says that he was not. Instead, he was chatting to his friends at the market and taking his own leisurely time.
The STOMPer says:
“I was driving out from Whampoa Drive market at Blk 92, on July 23 at around 12 pm.
“When I reached the exit of the carpark, I saw a lorry blocking the exit so I horned to alert the driver.
“The driver walked towards the lorry only after I horned about three to four times.
“The worst thing is that the driver, who is circled in the picture below, told me to just go through the small opening at the exit or by the entrance, because he was unloading his goods, which he wasn’t.
“Later, he just walked off to the fruit stall again, chatting to others without moving his lorry away.
“I had no choice but to go out by the entrance, causing a jam and danger to others.” -

In an email to STOMP today (Jul 29), the STOMPer says:
“This road is always full of big and heavy vehicles.
“Can't the authorities do something about this?
“This is an event that happens daily along Pasir Panjang Rd in the direction of the City.” -

Illegally parked lorry nearly causes an accident, yet driver refuses to move

STOMPer Antie Lorry said he nearly got into an accident because this lorry blocked his view while he was crossing the road, yet the driver refused to move his vehicle.
Said the STOMPer:
"This lorry was parked along West Coast Drive, opposite Hong Leong Gardens Shopping Centre, at about11.30am today (August 20).
"I was walking out from my house, wanting to cross the road. The lorry was blocking my view of oncoming traffic.
"When I thought it was clear and was about to cross the road, a car honked.
"After that, I asked the lorry driver to move his vehicle, but the driver said, 'I'm delivering goods to a restaurant! I must wait for my partner, then can move! Why not you move, lah!'
"I think he was too much! He was parking illegally on a single line road.

This illegally parked lorry was obstructing the flow of traffic in a narrow one-way lane.A STOMPer says:"This lorry was found parked in a yellow box around noon.
"It blocked vehicles wanting to turn into the one-way street on the left, as well as vehicles wanting to go straight from the back."Cars wanting to go straight were seen turning right first, into oncoming traffic, and then turning left back into the lane.
"It's a double offense as seen clearly from the pictures as there is a continuous white line in the centre of the two-way road, which means parking is not allowed on either side of the road.
"A motorcyclist had to get the driver (eating at the 24-hour coffeeshop) to move his vehicle away so that he could drive into the one-way lane."If it were to be a car/lorry, more obstruction would be caused on both sides of the road, endangering other motorists." -
