This is a topic for you all to recommand good locations for cycling
Let me start off. first..........
1. Park Connectors
These are good locations for cycling
Locations: All around singapore, just spot the black path with PCN printed on them and it is what you are looking for
Max speed: Using my small small bike, i can reach a approxmate 15kph as not many people are on the track and the track is long and striaght at most portions, terrain wise is good, except of occasional bumps that may be found along those regions that you need to take care of.
Lighting: Full lighting possible
Facilities: Seats with or without shelters are available, occasionly, bike stands are also available for locking of bikes, in addition, in certain parts of the track, it reaches a park where toilets are available. PCN Pitstop at Sun Plaza Park also provides drinks and bike rental, costs are unknown.
Bus Services: Most PCN are acessible by bus.
ok, so now I know what does the word PCN painted in yellow stands for liao..
sengkang park connector applicable?
the long long road tt starts smwhr opp e sengkang pwr stn..
I only cycled part of the Jurong Park connector so far...
Will certainly take up cycling as a sport in a few year's time...
park connector is good to cycle leisurely.. be careful of people walking on cycling paths... remember, pedestrians are always correct on pavements... langgar them abit, they kpkb you very long...
i said on my post earlier, i cycle to bukit batok nature east park via the park connector..
The road from Potong Pasir to Woodleigh is uphill and is good for cycling up. If you scared of the cemetery near Woodleigh station then use the path that is opposite the cemetery.
hmmm ... PCN is accessible by bus ? what does it exactly mean? for me i cycled from East Coast(MacDonald's) follow the cycling track all the way where you need to cross the road continue down , turn left , right into changi airport straight all the way to changi village (maybe u guys should try this road ... it's VERY long but fun... if you got bike try to use it and train by cycling anywhere you like, can save money also

I didn't cycle but I jogged/ran there and come back. Around 10KM+ for the whole loop.

haha, not reallythat far.
the PCN opposite the run way. it's nice.
Yea, it's very fun, but do note, the monsoon drains stretch are slippery. slow down at that stretch when you are making a turn.
sometimes ,you can even see mist on the track when raining , feel the nature =P
u can see people pouring ashes into the sea.

oo? is there any purpose ??

ashes are the remains of people.
some choose not to keep them.
so they pour it into the sea.

Ok la. I took 70 mins to jog that loop, considered very slow liao......
Haha but i think PCN quite sian, coz all straight one...
prefer those with a bit more twist and turn (Jurong PCN is nt bad)
West Coast also has some good cycling paths
I live in the west so dun really venture to the east, but from what I know during my limited excursions there the east has some pretty good cycling tracks / park paths too.
the average speed i cycle(some lok cock brand one but quite ok) is about 25km/h?

PCN stands for Park Connector Network.
The route which you tried from East Coast to Changi Village is known as the Coastal Park Connector. I have not yet cycled on this route but I have walked the full 7.9km. Took bus service 35 to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal then walk there. Took me around 2 hours plus to complete.
I have also walked on the small path alongside the 2 big monsoon drains which run paraell to the Coastal Park Connector. They are known as Changi Collector Drain (North) and (South). North drain is near Aviation Park, South drain is near East Coast Park and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Not advisable to cycle as the path is narrow and when come to the end of the drain, has to walk through low grass area to get out to the main road, and also some part of the path completely covered with grass, the north drain there has fallen trees almost blocking the path. However the scenary is nice, all around are trees and vegetation. Very deserted except for one or two fishing there.

No la lol. They pour the ashes into the sea is to simbolize returning the body to the dead.
Anyway, be extra careful on PCNs. Some have blind spots created by long bushes and trees. Dun assume the turn infront is always empty. Sekali you chiong then a person pops up and you hit him, thats it. Time to wait for mata chia.
ECP dangerous abit la when i go cycle...
i cycled the whole ECP stretch many obstacles... people walking on cycling paths la... roller blading la, cycle so fast macam tour de france... i was like, crazy people.. but i cant stand it when people occupy the whole track of the bicycle lane...
anyone did the Coastal PCN?? frm changi beach park to ECP?? its ard 7km... hahaha, but quite boring la the track, most of the time it will be straight road...
NEW PCN coming up beside Kallang River , saw them putting PCN sign .. next time can cycle well le=D

LOL
I thought I was the only mad bastard who tried biking along the drain to see how far it would go.
I gave up 3/4 way because I was fed-up with bashing through overgrown grass and fallen trees.
But....the scenery was indeed good. Despite the curses heaped onto me by my friends...
The best scenery offered is at the mouth of the canal at Tanah Merah Ferry Ter. Stray dogs inhabit that area although they are generally ok with people. The breeze there, with the sea-gulls around you is well-worth the distance extended into the sea.
