I am not a singaporean, but i have a friend, he's a singaporean.
how about the culture here, i mean, if he asked me out once a week, but not on the weekend but on the weekend we have our own business (busy), treat a dinner, chatt till night. Often text me. But, he said that singaporean always like that ( he means, singaporean likes to sms people whenever there r bored in the office, etc)...
Gimme a nick name...
But he never call me. juz sms..
does he like me or juz treat me like a friend ? ( like the culture here... ?)

It's kind of complicated cus it may be normal(cus a lot of singaporeans did that) or he might be interested in you...

maybe he's shy..heeh...
sometimes texting is better..at least one can pause, think for a while before typing the intended message and send it to recipient...unlike on the phone where u are required to spontaneously reply....thats what i think ....correct me if i'm wrong..hehe

yah he already mentioned dat all SGP r like dat, like texting ppl.
He texted not important thing, ie.: hungry , or asked me about sumting.
Yah maybe for now, juz wait n see lah..
But do u guys always pay for the bill when u go out w/ your friend (that is a girl), or, shared ?

Hmm.. i think this brings down to diff ppl's personality, behaviour and comfort zone.
From ur description , the guy only recently try to know u better and/or interested in u , so probably he is taking it slow .
SMS 1st to ease tension , some ppl have problem or more shy when talking over phone . It could be his problem , or he feels it is more apprioate using this approach 1st . I m not sure abt nationality differences , but i think that doesnt really matters . There r ppl more vocal than words.
Example , i was sorta dating this gal i know 2 days for a movie , so i tried to walk her hm , but she declined . So as i was waiting for bus , i tried to call her to talk , she didnt pick up . So i left a sms for her . She replied 1 hr later to apologised that she is on phone , i sorta test water by replying " hey u shld call me back ma .. lol " . Guess what , she didnt reply . We r still progressing as frens , but i didnt pressure for a tele conversion cos we r both not ready . ( I m also demoralised when she didnt bait by calling me back despite the open hint) .
So the idea is , u might want to hint him like i did to the gal . Or take things slowly , until a lvl where both parties r comfortable to talk freely n everything under the sun be it on phone or face to face.
