let him go JC la..later those who got more points than him no chance to go poly.Originally posted by ceecookie:Poly la...more hands on work
Please go RJC. In this society, all employer care is.. which JC you came from. Graduating from RJC will put you in good stead. Frankly, i do not think Science stream is your calling. Common, do not be decieved by your secondary teachers that the most glamarous thing is to merely get into the science stream. That is a load of bull.Originally posted by pistonf:Posting this for a friend:
I scored 4 points after deduction and i am thinking whether to do arts in RJC or Science in VJC ( was there for first 3 weeks, ok with it)...The courses im intending to pursue in university is psycholgy (arts and social science facaulty) or medicine. However in this exam, i hve done worse for my science than my arts. My chemistry got B3 (even after tuition) but my lit in english and ss/hist scored A1. SHould i choose science or arts?
If i go sci, i would take Bio, chem, math and econs
If i go arts, i would take math, econs, geog/lit and China studies
If i go RJC, I dont have to pay the expensive school fees because of some scholarship thingy. Which course should i take? which jc should i go? Does taking psychology in uni (local and overseas) require me to be in arts or science? How long do i have to study for psychology?
i am a girl and live around lil india-novena region and it takes 40 mins to reach home from VJC and 1/2 hour to reach home from RJC.
PS: is it possible to tke geog if i did not take it in upper sec? i did well for geog in lower sec eg i go A1 and A2s... or should i take lit (top in level) which i have lesser interest for)... is geog like econs?
Thank you! god bless!

hey I meant life science degree grads end up merely washing testtubes in bio-polis whole day. Medicine degree is different from life-science degree. I hope you do appreciate the difference in it.Originally posted by pistonf:New creation: medicine would land me in a test tube washing job? VJC not considered good enough for employers meh? i thought its the third best in sg or sth?
to alL: got ppl do psychology and busniess degree concurrently?

And of cz comparing RJC to VJC, employers prefer RJC graduates. This is the reality for life. If you want to enrol, you shd enrol in the Best institution, the top number 1 institution.
Oh yea i forgot abt that..Originally posted by felirox:let him go JC la..later those who got more points than him no chance to go poly.

1) Does taking psychology in uni (local and overseas) require me to be in arts or science? It doesn't matter. Psychology is under the Faculty of Arts and Social Science.
2) is geog like econs? No. Not at all.
3) How long do i have to study for psychology? It depends on which university. In Singapore, it's 3 years for Bachelor without honours, 4 for honours.
4) For arts, is it still possible to do clinical psychologyCan't answer that, sorry. But you might want to be aware that psychology is merely a "social science" major. You are not allowed to practice "medicine" through this major and you are not allowed to give patients prescription unless you go on to a phd level (doctorate). Basically, many students who took psychology as a major and didn't further their studies after 3 or 4 years, don't find much opportunities to make use of their degree later unless they take on jobs related to social work.
poly also can go uni. But at the end of the day, some degree holders can mug but cannot work, what's the point.Although it's true that not all graduates is as capable at her job as he/she was in school, I still feel that it isn't easy getting good grades in a country like Singapore. If he/she was able to do really well in school, it does show her ability and potential to some extent.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter which primary, secondary, JC or polytechnic you go to.dun be ridiculous.
What matters is at the end of the day, it's the uni degree and college that employers look at when you go to work.
Really. Laughing
hard to get in =( from poly.Originally posted by Li4nGsteR:poly also can go uni. But at the end of the day, some degree holders can mug but cannot work, what's the point.
Thats your view....Originally posted by ayucrazy:dun be ridiculous.
your pri sch prepares u for a good sec sch.
ur sec sch gives u an advantage and prepares u for the jc u go to.
ur jc prepares u for the uni u go to.
so whatever sch u go to DOES make a difference.
on topic, rjc's cut off for science was 3, arts 4, for last year.
most universities consider psychology as a Science nowadays.
many years ago it was considered as an art.
my advice would be to look at the requirements for taking psycho in uni, then finding ur subject combi that will let u offer those subjs while still being in arts stream
you are wrong.... The final university is important while the other schools are not.Originally posted by ayucrazy:dun be ridiculous.

Let these kids grow up and see for themselves.Originally posted by dangerboi:you are wrong.... The final university is important while the other schools are not.
Some kid who goes to top schools may have a nice resume of top schools (primary, secondary and tertiary).
However, he'll still lose out to someone who has gotten to lousy schools but has studied in world top universities such as oxford etc. not including coming back with an accent.
