Police have identified a male body found in the Yodogawa river in Asahi Ward, Osaka, as that of a 16-year-old boy of Higashi-Yodogawa Ward, Osaka.
The body, which had been tied with wire to a motorcycle, was found Saturday morning near the riverbank.
Based on the condition of the body, the police believe the boy was killed at about 6 a.m. Saturday, and are trying to determine if anyone was spotted acting suspiciously in the area at the time. They are also looking into the boy's personal relationships.
The body was identified by the dead boy's relatives, according to the police.
Keys found in the boy's pockets included a motorcycle key, however the police have yet to match the key to a motorcycle.
As the motorcycle tied to the body was very rusty, the police believe it had been abandoned in the river, and retrieved by the perpetrators to weigh down the body.
