the aero package differs from race to race so can't fault them for seeming to have the wrong details unless it is for that specific race. For mclaren's case this year, mid season the wings appeared on top of the aigo words just like the sharp edges on the ferraris which also appeared mid season.
Notice the "devil's horns" (winglets behind the head of a MP4/2X a classic design from 2005 (that has been copied by BMW) are missing later season.
Nose obviously changing from race to race but the general design has been the one with the sub wing going over the nose.
So I guess the hot wheel's car is from a mclaren just back from the flyaway races and before the canadian round. I go around looking for the exact race which the model is based on. -

The top picture that gp3 posted I think is the launch picture of this year's mclaren (which often resembles the last year's car with chief exception of the sponsors which they want to impress during the launch) note that they do not reveal the exact aerodynamic devices until the actual race itself. If they discover that something is better with the car after actual testing then they would put it on ASAP.
The hot wheel's car is the race version (which is quite different from a launch version) which I pin it down to the first 3 races.

talk bout diorama, i think for those who are interested in collecting model kits, they sure have the skills in making the dioramas... materials might be plastic? cardboard? painting equipment? its a work of art...!
no doubt for the quality for minichamps... as for hotwheels, i wont mind getting one as long as its a lewis mp4-22 model... desperate for one in my collection le... still no news in malaysia here...

Its the weekend or close to that. Time for this week's pictures.
The year is 2002. Schumacher makes history by making sure that he was on the podium for the whole season, often on the top 2 step. Ferrari's F2002 is the fastest f1 car in history because it is the last year they had the 1 hour qualifying. (before all the new regs on the one shot qualifying with race fuel occured next season). Williams had the 1-2 in Malaysia. Vodafone joins in as sponsor and removing tictacs from Ferrari's sponsorship. Alain Prost's Prost team goes bankrupt. Arrows goes bankrupt. Kimi at his first year at Mclaren almost won his first race in France but was denied the victory because of some toyota's oil spill. Thus Schumacher won the WDC at the French GP.
The car, launch edition F2001 painted in F2002 colours raced at the first GP of the year at Australia. With Schumacher winning in last year's car.

2002 is also known as the year which hotwheels had terrible box designs which are made of very thin cardboard. My premiere edition above suffered from that.
The next car here is the actual F2002. The first "race wear" hot wheels f1 cars with actual tyre wear. Here celebrating Ferrari's 150th Win is a lot similar to the previous years champion edition.

Celebrating his 5th WDC and equalling the late fangio's record.
Next week, the 2003 collection with a lot more cars than this week's and with a special one which would take a few posts. -
Wow...S$79.90 for a limited edition Ferrari with figure at years ago. Now, even a simple normal edition costs S$89.90!
I can still remember when the 1/18 scale only sells at S$49.90! Then S$59.90, S$69.90 and now WORST!! S$89.90!! Sigh! -
the 2000 collection got the limited champion for just 69.90 at TRU and imagine the whole shelf was full of them only! Now...very limited places to buy f1 models.
OG and Taka would have the 20% off from time to time so it was a great time to buy stuff at 80% of their full price. Some of my limited editions are actually cheaper than the non limited car.

Yes they do sell limited editions, but it is getting lesser and lesser now. The Mattel models are hard to find even in shopping malls nowadays!
But no worries!! I am looking foward to next year's SG Grand Prix!!!I wonder they will sell F1 models??!! -
no space at the moment...they usually sit in boxes on top of my cupboard but now they have reached the ceiling and no where else to go. I have even sent some of the non ferraris to my working place. taka used to sell and *may* sell from time to time. Used to be a very good place to get limited items but after 2005.... nothing much from there except below:
Got 2 interesting stories from there.
One is the king of desert from 2004 was selling at a knock off price at 30 bucks when limited editions were going for 110 at one crazy toy fair so good deals happen. And that is my 2nd king of desert.
The other story is that I once saw the renault's 100 win stocked in taka itself. Rushed to the counter to pay for it... but it was not for sale..... duh...they stocked it incorrectly. So I wonder where those 2 landed up. One thing for sure is that they never landed up in the shops mentioned in the thread. -

yea... bout singapore gp, there sure have lots of f1 merchandises sold... especially f1 models... in malaysia here, during the gp festival, there are lots of merchandise stores around... one shop captures me is diecast models... lot of limited editions sold and minichamps models... in sepang oso got lots of expensive merchandise sold... funny is tat the diecast models are quite reasonable... minichamps f1 models price around RM260 and tats where i got my sauber petronas model from... so don worry, when the GP fever comes, the stock will be enough for u to purchase... not scare no stock, scare u don wana buy nia... -

yea... should be the lewis hamilton limited edition announced by minichamps... available in both 1/43 and 1/18 scales... dono when will be released le but do hope to have a lucky chance to get this model... hope the price is affordable kua...

this year only mc and bmw cars come in 1/18 scale minichamps which is a shame really -

The 2003 collection would be a bit late as I have been busy lately. I'll get the missing photo done by Saturday Afternoon. Next week, I'll have to skip the 2004 collection as I'm missing one or 2 cars so I can't show it. So only the 2005 collection on the final gp weekend then the 2006 collection which recently just completed.

The year is 2003. Like this year (2007) there were a few hopefuls for the crown. MS started the year with the old car and did not win until imola, the 4th race of the season. A few won their first races, kimi, fisi and alonso all of them whom HW made specials for them. fisi won in a terrible race of attrition in the brazillian gp of 2003 which is a must watch for how dumb a race can and will happen in the race especially for that expensive car park which saw no less than 6 cars parked there. The models collected during this period reflect how close the season was and what really happened. The title was more or less secured during the US gp where it could go 3 ways, montoya, ms and kimi but MS won very narrowly in wet conditions. Only a valiant fight from RB at Japan helped MS to win it from the ever charging Kimi. With this I bring you the 2003 collection.
To start off. The car which ferrari started the year with, premiere edition of 2003. The famous F2002 which won its first and last races (and many inbetween) in its life. People call this the Australian GP car because it was raced there....

Normal box of the F2003GA. Notable changes between the F2002 and F2003 are as follows, front wing, gills on the sidepods and exhaust vents.
The yearly canadian GP special where the top 3 cars were lined up together at the fnish line. MS had fading brakes to content with and this was the car which brought him the points which made him the first guy in the championship history to achieve 999 points. Used post race condition, clearly showing the gills
