Jus some thoughts & ideas...
Since all of us hav this passion for diecast models,
why not bring our hobby & passion up to a whole new level?
How bout takin an opportunity in conjunction with a local
motorshow/ carshow & take up a space to display and showcase
our precious models, instead of jus lettin em collect dust at home?
If we're interested, we can all come together & work out
ideas & e details. Those who hav contacts on upcoming carshow
event organisers can chip in too.
We can also see if NIKKO is keen on puttin up their new models for sale
during motorshow, & bearing part of e expenses.
This whole thing is jus a vague idea tat came up my mind some weeks ago.
Hope maybe we can come together to do something on a bigger scale
as a diecast club, & take our passion to a new level.
Pls chip in ideas & voice out which aspects will work & which will not.
Open towards positive & constructive criticisms.

i think if we were to display our diecast models there, we would have to pay an astronomical price to rent a space to showcase.. but if we can find a sponsor like nikko, it would be a different story altogether

We could help Nikko setup a booth for them and display their models... Maybe only those people interested in selling their models can put theirs up at the booth...
IMHO, Displaying our own models wouldn't do much good for them since they're not gonna profit from it... It would be more advantageous for them to display their own models to draw attention to themselves... Besides advertising in Hot Stuff mag, I rarely see any other media promoting their store... -
overall, i suggest a time and date where we can get together to discuss and get to finalise. how abt this coming sunday?

How will that benefit Nikko since they're not the ones selling those rare models? It could be better that we help to set up and display the models Nikko has... as well as any other models we have for sale ourselves...
Putting just your own rare models for display, and not for sale, might bring about this sense of 'showing off' to others... You know, the 'I got this rare model and you can't get it' kind of thing...
Its best to look for a win-win situation... -
From what I gather......
Car owners (those not collecting models as a hobby) will usually buy models of the cars that they currently own or has owned before. Given that, it is highly unlikely that you guys or Nikko can benefit from having a stand at car shows. You most likely will only attract eyes of envy instead of genuine buyers. Not many follks will be willing to fork out over $100 for a "souvenir" at car shows. Dealerships like Stuggart and Performance Motor are also selling scaled models to the public. Exhibiting scaled models could become a side show but if you're thinking of getting some financial benefits out of it, its not so rosy. I'm sure Nikkon has thought of this before. -

I doubt we can actually sell anything without a proper license.
Most car shows are all abt 'showing off', dont tell me the lambo's and ferrari's, which are the highlight of the show, are actually affordable to the public at large.. -
There's a lot of 'mays' in that... They 'MAY' buy something... its not something that can certainly happen... I don't think Nikko will be willing to put up the money for this if there's no certainty if they can make a profit from it... Plus, collectors probably already know what models they are looking for and where they can get it.. You don't need a license to sell what you own...
The difference about this and car shows is that for car shows, the companies are showcasing their new products for interested buyers... Whereas we are just showing people what we own as individuals... You can say that most car shows are about showing off... so... does that mean that you also want to show off by showcasing your rare models? -
hi , really a great long time that i didnt involve with the things going on here... busy with school work tho... pai sae anyway ya..

if just for display purposes it may work la , but if want to sell of models hmm i think not many or can say no one will go buy you see....
if you go to car show , which one is your main attraction? the real car rite.... where got ppl go see models and buy lae ? unless it is a exhibition of model cars ma then can work...
nikko or some other company that time i saw before ma got go for the car show thingy in the previous shows but from what i observed there arent any buyers, but quite a number of onlookers only. btw that time is i think also have remote control cars performance also to show "drifting"

maybe can come out with a proposal with what is the initiated plan of coming out a exhibition of our collection , and binging the nikko and as well as other companies product for the exhibition such as burago misto etc....

in SG cant really attract sg poreans to come for this de unless ar you have a lot of special ATTRACTIONS just like the car show.. i think all of us you all know la i no need to spell put u all as guys we should know what are the some of the special ATTRACTIONS that they have on car shows .... ya if you really want to solely display/ sell model cars ar.... CMI .... if got other event such as games etc etc maybe can attract ppl but not confirm can... you got to know what the ppl wants and how to attract crowd first before you can attract your main grp of target customer, or else you will get to no were.

You're not venturing anything... You're asking Nikko to put up the money... Why don't you put up the money for them? Then you can venture to gain something... To rent a booth, you just need to have be a legitimate business or an official club... You can go register SGDC club if you want... I'm sure a smart guy like you should know how to do that...
And again, if you're not willing to put up your own models for display, then don't talk about wanting to display rare models or any other models...

But of course, no one can beat your own knowledge when it comes to certain areas lah... Like your artistic flair in modding... So cheem the rest of us don't understand it... And you so zhai, can DIY too... other poor souls still have to ask others to help with the mods...
