Hey hey,
Just thought I'd see if anyone overseas will be heading to the polling booths on May 7?
I've never voted myself since I've lived overseas before I was 21 (not that it matters since where I used to live in Singapore was always "walked over").
I'm not sure if I'm up to date on Singapore politics anyway to cast a responsible vote, but it sure is interesting to see all the mud slinging in the news. It's more efficient mud slinging nowadays with the internet and Facebook!
can't be bothered to waste time and effort, pap is gonna win with a landslide anyways
If I understand the process correctly, an overseas Singaporean can only cast a vote in person at a Singapore consulate or embassy. I am living in the middle of the US and the nearest consulate is over 1000 miles away in New York City.
No, thanks. As vito has written, why bother voting when the results of the "election" are foregone? Elections in Singapore are nothing more than an elaborate and farcical dog and pony show put on by the government to present the facade of democracy to the rest of the world.
not voting. waste time and money only.. have to go to nyc or dc to vote...
no thanks....unless they r paying for my airfare/accommodation to NYC/DC!!!
They don't seem to want you to vote anyway.
Their stupid rules and process makes it really hard even if you feel like voting.
For one.. why the heck they send my ballot to SG address when clearly my NRIC has a overseas addy ???
OK I get it... it's easier to smoke the SG locals than the more worldly citizens out there... ho ho hoes...
