psst......canada....kekekeke
First set of images:
In the Umeda district, on the way to the Sky Building's rooftop observatory. That's the extension to the already sprawling JR Umeda subway station under construction.
First order of business: catch the new Macross Frontier movie at the Cine Libre cinema in the Sky Building. The ticket cost 1800 yen, but it was worth every penny... er, yen, as the movie was flat out fantastic--a veritable treat for the eyes and ears. The ending was a bit of a downer, though.
The Umeda Sky Building, with the rooftop observatory bridging the tops of both towers.
The following two images are views from the open-air rooftop observatory:
Will be heading to Kyoto later this evening. More images to follow.
Some images from my side trip to Onomichi this morning:
Arriving at the Onomichi station.
Outside the station.
Part of the waterfront at Onomichi.
WTF?? "CAUTION! BEWARE OF ALIEN HUMANOID LIFEFORMS"
Aboard the Sakura Shinkansen on the way back to Shinosaka.

Cancelling your Japan trip on account of the earthquake/tsunami might have been a bit premature. While the disaster was undoubtedly devastating to the affected areas, the rest of the country is unaffected. Here in Osaka, the only signs of the disaster are what you see and hear in the media, and the donation drop-boxes next to cash registers at most retail establishments.
So where are MPB and you planning to go instead?

Welcome to the club. As I age, I find myself less able to endure the rigours of long distance air travel. That's the reason I'm feeling pressure to get most of my travelling done as soon as possible.

You could have paid a bit more for my journey to be safe and comfortable...
It's more of radiation concerns than the destruction
