Poor pb. For me, my doctors tell me it's just wear and tear, exacerbated by joint stress during in my younger days when I was into track and field. I'm bummed. Had I known, I could have taken precautions. So now I have osteoarthritis in my hips and knees. They ache, more so when the climate is cold. Uncomfy. On top of this the MRI also found a spinal condition. All of which are degenerative so I have to start making concessions.

oh.....keep warm. maybe settle in sg may help but then sg is damp also eh? your doc gave you exercise sheet to do daily? take care jetta. my friend's mum has a spinal condition too and had to have some kind of surgery done. i saw her mum and it's not pleasant. i am afraid of back prob too. i should really do my back exercise.
Back pain is terrible. I'm thankful that I don't have a severe condition that causes me lots of pain. I just cannot sit or stand for too long. Damn suay you know. Part of the reason why I quit Sears and am looking for something more sedentary. It's tough especially in this economy.
I have twice weekly physical therapy sessions and I'm learning how to adapt and not exacerbate my condition. The doc is recommending that I get a cortisone shot in my back but....

that helps.. it reduces the swelling which causes the pain... but you need to go for the shot.. i dunno.. every few months?
best to strengthen the stomach muscles and other core muscles.. these other muscles will help "pick up the slack" and the affected part will not be so stressed..
stuff like swimming and pilates help...

Let's see
Left Ankle: Twisted it badly
Right Hip: Injury from automobile accident
Lower Back: Sprained it at least 4 times now >.<" Once very badly
Right Knee: From all my falls from learning how to rollarblade
Right Shoulder: Injury from preventing myself from falling to my death on Blue Mountains stairs -_-"
Neck Base: Slipped disc due to same automobile accident
Speaking of which I really should be a good girl and pay my chiropractor a visit
My mum has been nagging to me about it non-stop but ever since they shifted out of Suntec I've been lazy

That's why I'm hesitating going for the cortisone shot. Stop gap measure, imho. The condition I have is spondylolysis/pars defect.
My PT sessions do exactly what you mentioned. I enjoy going for therapy and am learning lots about the human body. My therapist recommends pilates too. I found some free pilates and yoga videos off tv. As for swimming, it's a little too cold now and the nearest indoor pool is a 40 minute drive away. I'll wait for summer.

Aiyoh! Better see your chiropractor now before you compound your condition. Poor pb.

I do have therapy homework. Just before I hit the sack, I go through the motions. Swimming is too cold leh. Like I mentioned before the closest indoor heated pool is about 30-40 minutes away. Far for me too. Especially with the price of gas currently sitting at $3.89/gallon.
