Got bored last weekend, so I hopped into the car and took a roadtrip along the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers in an attempt to catch the fall colours. I had my camera with me, and these were some of the results:
The Mississippi River seen from the bluffs of Spring Lake Park. If the water level seems high, it is, thanks to the heavy rains that inundated the upper Midwest from a week prior.
Sign at a boat landing just outside Hastings. That signpost is normally on dry land.
Lock & Dam No. 2, just upstream of Hastings on the Mississippi, with a bit of morning fog visible in the background.
The St. Croix River in Stillwater. The liftbridge in the background links Stillwater on the Minnesota side of the river with Houlton on the Wisconsin side. Again, note the high water level.
Pity the municipal worker who has to empty that trash bin.
Now there's someone who knows how to take advantage of the high water level!
Morning fog on the St. Croix.
Fall colours!
At Taylors Falls overlooking the St. Croix.
The rapids on the St. Croix.
Barge traffic on the Mississippi in Red Wing.
Downtown Red Wing, MN.
A church in Red Wing.
Nice photos, MG!
The Spokane River is a lil high too but they'll open the gates at the dam a lil more and drain down Coeur d'Alene Lake a couple feet in anticipation of the winter runoff.
Been raking and piling pine needles and leaves in the street here as per the usual this time of year. We could go ahead and burn them except the smoke sometimes drifts to the neighbors yards, which isn't really a problem just a courtesy thing.
Lovely shots! Thanks, MG. I especially love the picture of Taylor Falls.
Here we have been enjoying a nice distraction from the usual sunshine. Days and days of rain. Luxury! Alas, this day also marks the end of my two weeks of leave from work. I've been preoccupied by yard work and making more inventory for upcoming fairs. We inherited a whole mess of trees, sadly neglected, left to grow wild. We had to get rid of a yucky yucca and a fan palm which has left us $500 poorer.
heyhey....fantastic photos MG
ohhh....i love fall so much!
here's some photos of fall over my side - New England

NE fall is beautiful!! i can never get enough of it....
move move move!!! then i'd have a SG kaki here....
but hor...you won't like the cold weather here =P
You're right. I'll stay. lol
Nothing quite as dramatic here, unfortunately/fortunately. lol Have you googled "singapore club" to see if you have any kakis nearby? I bet there are.
Weather-wise, we are enjoying a respite from the rain. Strange to have rain for as many days as we've had because usually this time of year we have fires.
So how are you liking your new rental? Newer home? Better insulated?

LiT,
Very nice pictures indeed!
Just a minor quibble: would it be possible for you to post larger versions of the images? The 320 x 240 resolution of those wonderful images just isn't going to cut it for these ageing eyes of mine...
lovely pics LiT. here are my contributions.
tree on my boulevard taken yesterday

Today's sunrise....the tree on the right is almost bare already...the left 2 still very red/yellow.

LiT,
Hmmm... when you're viewing the thumbnails in your Photobucket account, are you copying the link from the "Direct Link" text box that pops up when you hover the cursor over a thumbnail?
What's the original size of the images?

i'd usually reduce my photo size to around 200ish KB. too small?
