Happy CNY to the overseas gang

How do you guys celebrate? Do you guys get together with other Sgporeans or overseas Chinese to celebrate the day?
Here, life goes on. The Viet community holds their Tet Festival at the Stadium. They have food vendors, Viet culture and a Miss Vietnam contest.
We have a small CNY celebration downtown on the 20th & 21st. They have lion dances, food, vendors, etc. Strange to see people other than Chinese among the lion dance troupe.
At home, I whip out the good old electric steamboat and we have at it.
This year, we'll have two guests. Happy CNY all!

I have to work today until 530. Then I have to race back and get the steamboat dinner ready. KB is joining us today, along with my daughter's friend from school, who is an exchange student from Taiwan.

wishing you all a happy and prosperous year of the Tiger *roar*
this is also the first year that we are away from our families and friends during CNY....hubby and i will be having our own little steamboat dinner at home.
we were in boston last week and managed to buy some chinese groceries for our steamboat.
there'll be some chinese new year celebrations in boston chinatown next week....so we'll probably make another trip up north again to bask in the CNY festivities
i was on skype with my family while they were having their reunion dinner earlier this morning

Tried to capture more CNY mood.... played CNY songs, did spring-cleaning, prepared ang baos, got some CNY goodies from Chinatown last week, put up some decorations bought in singapore last year, Invited in-laws and friends over...
i know there is still something missing.... the mood is not as much as that of in singapore.... where my own family and long-known friends are.... but it is still a great day.... :)
