I'm thinking for those make it to States or now applying for green card, is it much tougher than australia and canada?
Seems like it took longer and one need to engage a lawyer too.

I'm thinking you got too much time on hand or now getting orgasm for asking, is it much tougher than trying to do research by yourself.
Seems like it took longer and one need to get attention too.

It depends on the route you are taking.
1. employment based
2. family based. (marriage, siblings etc)
3. DV lottery.
There are a number of factors that will affect the processing time as well, different classes, priorities, work load of your local processing center. But to give you an idea, it can range as short as 3 months to 10 years.
green card got tougher since bill clinton became president in 1997.it got even tougher after the 9-11 arab terrorist attack on World trade towers in New York!
so...............it takes longer time.....however u need to see what Obamas state department has to offer now .
Canada and australia seems to be viable anyway
