hey folks, watsup? haven't been hearing much from everybody these days =)
hope you are enjoying the nice spring weather and beautiful blooms!
any travel plans for spring/summer?
I've been busy. Since the appliance stimulus started, we have been busy and working longer hours. I come home dog tired. Legs tired from standing all day, mouth tired from talking, talking, talking.
In other news, we got the house and we are trying to get moved in by end of June.

that's good news no? i hope yours is a commission-based position! =)
awww...congrats! so you'll need to start packing....that's a big chore! stay sane and calm. hope you get to enjoy the appliance stimulus (whatever that is?) to equip your new place
on the same note, a week ago, we made an offer on a house but our offer was ignored (it wasn't a lowball offer but the seller didn't even bother to reply...is that normal???!!)...we upped the offer to the sellers' "price range for consideration" and got rejected....essentially, they wanted the full asking price which we absolutely refused to give to them.
we were planning to make an offer on another house yesterday and were told by the listing agent that they were gonna sign the P&S agreement that afternoon at the full asking price. we were like ??????!!!!
so we figured everyone is rushing for the tax credit deadline and offering ridiculously high prices.....we might be better off waiting till after 30 april. i don't believe the housing prices will not drop further with the increase in interest rates....
bleeeaaaaahhh
anyway...we might return to singapore earlier than planned - some time mid-june. am checking for cheap flights now. think i saw SIA fares being pretty reasonable but must fly from New York.
might be joining u east coast folks together for a freeze-off party, applying to columbia for spring dont think i'll get in but if i do its cold time!

Ah yes. the bidding war has started.
That's what happens when you try to catch one when the market is on the up swing.

hey jojobeach...good to see you!! haven't heard from you in awhile....what have you been up to?
not sure about the upswing part.....i think it's just the last minute tax credit frenzy...after 30april...i'm pretty sure things will be very quiet...and the buyer pool pretty much dried up..

Quiet ? Not likely lor. This is USA.. not Singapore leh....
There's hordes of investors with cold hard cash waiting for the tax credit to cease and the market to cool...before coming in to swoop up the steals....
Today you are competing with new home buyers.. soon you'd be competing with investors....
Me just doing same old same old.. eat sleep shit..

well...i'm hoping for prices to drop after the tax credit too...let's see
hahahahhaa....don't we all just eat, sleep, shit

Oh well... whats important is how well does the property value holds in your area.
Anyway, good luck on your search..

Your parents know bout your gun purchase or not ?
You are not planning on shooting yourself or some kids are you ?
Soon your gun will be stolen by some crooks and you get hauled to the police station for the crime you didn't do.
Then you'd realise no girls wanna go out with you.. because date rape at gun points are not uncommon here.
Gun ownership is a very private thing, you don't go around telling everyone you have a gun.
Frankly, I think you've just made a mistake with that purchase.
If you are just too bored or too rich , please volunteer your time and money to local charity or volunteer organisation.
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...
My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...
My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my rifle clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...
Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is (insert country) and there is no enemy, but peace.

I am curious about one thing, though: How were you able to legally purchase a firearm without being a permanent resident or a citizen of the US?

cause i live in a state thats run by the GOVERNATORR as opposed to an old autocrat? hehe... according to the CA DOJ officer i spoke to, as long as u are residing legally in the country and state and posses a valid CA ID (ie long term alien residents like students) u can purchase a firearm, you do have to present ur i20, i94 and passport for records and a background check tho

so I flew to Sacramento to attend a wedding this past weekend and had some very nice scenery to look at inside the plane on the return trip. The Gonzaga University Women's Rowing Team was flying back to Spokane.
