What is the easiest way to get a job in Australia as a Aus PR. I had full time job in melbourne after graduating from melb uni but left that after a year. Now im looking for another job but it feels like im going no where. Im looking for temp/casual jobs. My options are
1) Through career sites like seek.com
2) Through company's own website
3) Through employment agency
4) Door to Door
My question is which method has the highest chance of success. I know people are gonna say all 4 but i wanna know which is the best so i put more focus on the better method. Would prefer advice from people who have had experience landing jobs as an overseas student.
If anyone has managed to get a job through an agency in melbourne, please recommend the agency. Your help is greatly appreciated
Adecco Australia: www.adecco.com.au
no luck with agencies in spore or oz.
these days jobs are hard to come by.....U might be better off going directly to companies career web site and applied and thru networking...
Also try professional networking websites. E.g. CPA website for accountants or ACs website for IT professionals.
You didn't state how long you have been job hunting. Just be prepared that in Aus, it not unusual to take 3-6 months to find a job. Good luck.
got ang mo aussie neighbour took like 3 years to get job.
Hi Frizzleflow, are you looking for any temp job so as you are able to source for a more permenent position? Another stupid question, are you able to get the dole as it would make things a whole lot easier.
There is another place to look for temp employment. I suppose you are currently living in melbourne. Go any centrelink near where you live and ask for a job network card. Also, ask them if they got anything on the cards and will they be able to hook you up with any government job network agency (refer to jobsearch.gov.au).
If they are able to hook you up with a job network agency, you will be ask to go down for a quick interview.
Bear in mind, the jobs on the list are the sort of the things nobody likes to do. Put it this way, I got a job working as a cleaner in an abattior through this method. The job sucks, but it pays the rent and the bills and give you that little more confidence in getting the job that you want.
It works for me. Hopefully, it works for you.
