Announcing the arrival of KB and 13 of his co-horts to So Cal. Don't forget to include Newton hawker centre in your suitcases for yours truly! See you here soon, KB.
oh yeah.. he's going there soon..
hmmm... uhh.. does American Customs allow things like bak kwa? the stuff is now individually vacuum packed.. bite sized pieces..
As long as they don't mistake bak kwa for Semtex I think Nick will be fine.

Yes they do. I got some a year ago courtesy of VK.
Hey vito and arapahoe, would you guys like to do something this winter? Would you like to meet up in Big Bear for a day of inner tubing? If KB is so inclined I can pick him up so we can all meet up.
Tips:
1) Make sure the bak guas boxes are scattered all around in the luggage. Preferably a softcase cloth type cheap Army Kit bag as luggage. And secure your bags zipper with cable ties.
2) Arrive at the airport during the early morning at LAX or during the late evening where the immigration and custom folks are going off shifts.
3) And buy those $17-19/- a pack of Bak Guas in plain flavours vacumn packed at Bee Cheng Hiang. 10 pieces of bak gua to a box and if you buy more then 6 boxes, got give you at least 1 box free, depending on their promotion.
4) Pack in Myjo Instant Mee Poks. They are not available in USA, last time I checked. And should be welcome with open arms by folks that will be missing them Mee Poks!

Is Prima stuff available there? The landlord wants rendang (just the spice mix) so if it isn't, I'll get it here.

Yes but only certain varieties at your nearby Ranch 99. The one here only carries four and I'm upset that they didn't have a single one when I was there two days ago. *fume!* If you want a wider selection, you'd have to order it online.

Closer to you than Mammoth. There is another spot west of Big Bear called Mountain High. If you go to your local Big 5, you can pick up brochures with the current prices.

there are export version of Bak Kwa that are vacum sealed. That is approved to enter US.

In downtown little tokyo there is an indian stall that sell bryani chicken for $3.99 enough for 2 person to eat.
I stand corrected. KB is due to arrive in January. My bad.

LKK sauces are easy to get here. It's brands like Baba curry powder that I can't find. Baba's makes the best curry powder. Hmmmmmmmm.
