Exactly the same mindset before I step foot there...not that I dont like japan anymore, but I certainly glad I am in sg rather than there...seriously!!
Oh by the way, you still playing scrabble?
Scrabble ah. Only on Pogo.com. I used to play on FB, made alot of friends from the UK but that was before those of us in the US weren't allowed on that side. The "allowed" US version on FB is a joke, much to my disappointment.
did u asked him to bring back some Tuna Belly.....and drop off at LAX?
Last full day in Kyoto, and just three more days before we leave Japan. Starting to feel somewhat depressed at that thought already.
Did something rather impulsive today: rode the Shinkansen all the way to Hakata in Kyushu and back. Got to Hakata, walked to the Canal City Hakata shopping mall and wandered around there for 30 minutes, then headed back to the station for the return trip to Kyoto. All in all, spent nearly 8 hours riding the Shinkansen today. I think I have that out of my system for now.
Sorry for the lack of images--I just haven't had the time to upload them.
Edited to add: Okay, I lied. Had time to upload a few images of the trip to Hakata.
On the Kyoto station platform, waiting for the "Hikari" Shinkansen to take us to Shin-Kobe on the first leg of the trip. The board shows our train (#491) arriving next at 7:16 a.m on track 13.
At the Shin-Kobe station, waiting for the connecting train.

Some train action at the Shin-Kobe station.

At Hakata, just outside the train station.
u got to stop counting and enjoy the "moment".
Woah! its been close to 2 weeks! MG, you returning or still will be in Japan for more time?
Currently 11:30 a.m. in Shinjuku, waiting for the hotel shuttle to take us to the Shinjuku train station for the 1.5 hour train ride on the N'EX express to Narita Airport. Our flight back to the US leaves at 4:25 p.m.
Not looking forward to returning to the US. Goodbye, Japan. I had a blast, and I'll definitely be back, perhaps even as early as next spring.
Will update with more pictures after I get back stateside.
MG checking out...
Thanks for the pics and the reports MG... wish I could go...
Hi MG thanks for sharing. I see that you had a great 2 weeks holiday. I will be heading down during late Aug - Sept.
As I'm not a wrking adult, I will only be moving within Tokyo & mayb Gotemba near Mt Fuji for 9 days. Low budget.
Places I will visit include: Odaiba Island - (Tokyo Bay), Disneyland, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Dome, Ueno Park/Zoo, Akihabara (Otaku culture), Shinjuku & Shibuya Districts.
Any recommendations on cheaper & nice food, trendy clothes (early 20s) & scenic views around the city? thanks!
