HAIR STANDS ON ENDS WHEN HUMIDITY WERD IS MENTIONED.
My apologies for the lack of updates to this thread.
As we're finding out the hard way, the schedule we set ourselves was (is) waaaayyyy too aggressive, and I've hardly had time to post anything here. We left Tokyo on Thursday, spent a day and night in Nagoya so one of my travelling companions could revisit the apartment he had stayed at for a year and the university at which he had been an exchange student, and are now in Osaka for a couple of days. Tomorrow we're off to Hiroshima for a couple of days.
A couple of quick notes: it's been stupidly hot and humid here, with daytime temps mostly in the 30s (Celcius) and humidity at or above 80%. It's been cloudy almost everyday and has been raining more often than not. I estimate we've been walking an average of about 5 miles a day getting from the train stations to the various places of interest, and climbed more stairs than I do in a year back in the US..
But I'm enjoying every minute of it!
More pictures to come when I have time to upload them--they'll probably not be in chronological order though.
wahhhh...
nice!!
i want to go tokyo!!
Some crappy pictures taken from The Floating Garden Observatory of the Umeda Sky Building in the Kita district of Osaka earlier this evening:
The Umeda Sky Building seem from the plaza. The Floating Sky Observatory connects the tops of the two towers.
Some night shots of the Kita district taken from the open air observation deck that crowns the observatory:
My apologies for the crappy quality; it's hard to hold a camera still for a long-exposure shot.
More to come when time permits (including back-fills).
jap is so ex
Meia meia when you are returning to the States please pop a few fotos of planes @ the airport~... Narita has a good viewing gallery. Can post them on the GCA photos thread? Much appreciated.

¥100+ for an onigiri, ¥380 for a meal at Yoshinoya, ¥800 for a supermarket bento, ¥1000 for an executive lunch...

Given our hectic schedule, it's doubtful I'll have time to hit the viewing gallery at Narita. But I'll see what I can do.

Oh maybe you could just capture a few shots of the aviation scene in Japan on ur flight out...
Anyways thanks.
MG! I really envy you! I've wanted to visit Japan for such a long time!
More photos! More photos!
Okay, it's back-fill time.
On Tuesday, July 7, we visited the Tsukiji Fish Market.
Catching the early morning train for the ride to Tsukiji.
Preparing to enter the hell that is the Tsukiji Fish Market.
First order of business: look for a sushi restaurant at which to have breakfast in the market. The fact that there are lines waiting to get in, tell us that we might have arrived a bit too late.
Sushi at a fish market. It doesn't get any fresher than this.
The following are pictures taken inside the market itself.

and i am stucked at one small island, without being forgived by someone, despite many sorries~!
haiz~ my life is a misery.......
After Tsukiji, we decided to hike our way north to Akihabara (again!). The path brought us through the Ginza district:
Since it was still fairly early in the morning, there weren't a lot of people around, but I can imagine what this place would be like during regular working hours and especially at night.
And yes, it was already ridiculously humid at this hour.

Some severely out of sequence images, this time taken at the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo some days back:
Again, it was a stiflingly hot and humid day, and I was sweating buckets from the get-go.
We were lucky enough to catch a traditional Japanese wedding in progress that morning at the shrine:
More images to come as time permits.
Why are you making me wish that I still lived there? I spent 6 years whingeing about how I disliked it and look at me now. lol

Thanks for the cold shower. Hahah. I can talk about the great food until the cows come home but when I think of what we had to endure, I'm glad we no longer live there. My kids disliked it too but now, they are so enamoured with jap anime, they say it living there was the best. Hahaha!!!
