Got in to Narita at around 5:20 p.m. local time. Took the N'EX Express from Narita directly to Shinjuku. Damn tired now.

Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Himeji and Yokohama. And yes, we've each gotten a 14-day JR Rail Pass.
Pictures taken yesterday:
Arriving at Narita after an arduous 12-hour flight from Minneapolis on NorthWORST Airlines. There was light chop on almost the entire flight, and as usual I did not manage to get any sleep at all. But I was in Japan!!
Waiting for the doors of the N'EX express train to open at the JR station in the basement of the airport.
Inside the N'EX train, which goes directly from Narita to Tokyo and Shinjuku, bypassing all the local stops.
Our first Japanese meal! After we got "freshened up," we headed over to a local udon restaurant and pigged out. I ordered a beef udon bowl and my friend ordered sukiyaki udon.
The view from the observation deck of the north tower (or was it the south?) of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office building. The observation deck was open until 11 p.m. and we headed there after dinner.
Part of the Shinjuku skyline from street level. It was pretty warm and HUMID last night... almost like Singapore!
More pictures to follow. We're heading to Akihabara, Ueno and a few other places today.
Wow, that little blue bowl looks exactly like the one used at Akashi Japanese Restaurant.

The view from our 36th floor hotel room in Shinjuku.
And again. Note the cloudy weather; we have yet to see the sun in the two days that we've been in Tokyo.
On the hotel shuttle bus to the Shinjuku train station.
Turnstiles at the entrance to the JR trains at the Shinjuku station.
On the platform at the Shinjuku station, waiting for the Chuo Line train to arrive.
The Monday morning crowd at the Shinjuku station.

Hey Meia, nice to hear you are in Tokyo~!
Is it possible if you post your plane photos on the GCA Plane pictures thread? Would be much appreciated.
And oh, the last time I went to Tokyo I stayed at Okubo, one stop after Shinjuku Station. Luckily for both you and me we took the N'EX, the other train alternative is pure hell trust me~...
Oh and I have some photos similar to urs when I was in Tokyo(esp the Municipal Tokyo Office Building and at Shinjuku)... I love the sound of the trains departing at Shinjuku, along with the lovely melody played just before the trains depart...

awwwww....i miss tokyo. actually the local trains from NRT to tokyo ain't that bad...but must admit they are sometimes quite crowded...so you might have to stand with your heavy backpack. but no complaints really...the local train fares are much cheaper leh
UDON!!! God i miss real asian food.

You were taking the Chuo line at Shinjuku station? You must be visiting the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka then?
Our first stop on Monday was, of course, Akihabara.
It was damp and raining, but didn't get stupidly hot and humid until later in the day. Some pictures I took in between gawking at the manifestations of anime and otaku culture:

We thought about going there, but realized it was more of a theme park than a museum. Reservations to enter the park were required, and we decided that it would take more time than it was worth.
Later that day (Monday), we headed over to Shibuya. If you thought Orchard Road in Singapore was crowded on a Saturday night, you obviously haven't been to Shibuya.
HOW MUCH IS A MEAL REALLY THERE?
