It's better to have many minor quakes to relieve the stress at the subduction zones, than to let the stress accumulate and build up to a major quake (like the Sze Chuan quake last year).

yeah but i think we are due for a medium size shift. its been quite a while...i think at least once every 6 months.

It really depend upon your instant reaction .....Earthquake happen in split second, Our mind don't really react until after 3 - 4 second after it shake. So u start taking cover or running out of your building.
As to where is the best place.....saved place... in the past they said it was under the door frame,but on recent documentary they advised otherwise. Hid under table against falling object....but if your table top that you assemble from Ikea i suggest you check how many pounds it can withstand, . So i guess at the end of the day is where you are and used your common sense and how you react.

I thought it was kind of frightening because it was Pre Shock that hit first than a bigger one hit....
