There's a good chance I'll be visiting one of my sisters in SoCal later this year, so a get-together with you and the gang over there might not be out of the question.
15 more days and counting. Still can't believe this is going to happen...
Three = a gang. hahaaha. You crack me up.
But if you're serious, give me a head's up? I'll drive to OC but not to LA.

In Singapore, we'd be considered an illegal gathering and subject to arrest.
No prob. I'll give you a heads-up if/when I head over to SoCal later this year. And yes, I'll be in the OC area (Garden Grove to be exact).

Can't really recall. There are a number of really good Japanese restaurants in that area, but that's about all I remember.

I'm so there! That's one of the things my family really misses, the great sushi selection from our life in Japan. We especially miss kaiten sushi. There is none to be had here. I'm told that the closest one is a drive - all the way to LA's Japan Town! Sushi here is sooo expensive. In Japan you can get tamago nigiri for 90 yen or sake nigiri for just 100yen. Here it's 2.75 and 3.75 at the cheapest sushi place we know of.

That's odd. Given the size of the Japanese population in SoCal, I would have thought Japanese fare there would be quite reasonably priced.
Any chances of you making a trip back to Japan just for a visit?

You would think. We do have lots of Japanese places but nothing like the quality in Japan.
Funny you should ask. We are quite tired of living here and the four of us came to a consensus that we wouldn't mind returning to Japan for another tour of duty, as part of the civilian force this time. I know we used to cuss at our life in Japan but after experiencing life here and it's social ills, we would much rather head back. Once the hubster updates his online resume we hope to get a bite.

No. I want to know the electronics you are bringing.
ie.....what voltage electrical sockets....

dude you are on vacation leave the daily trouble or anything that remind you of daily problems behind don't carry with you.

Japan operates on a household current of 100 volts at 50 - 60 Hz. The wall sockets are identical to those in the US, so no adapters are required.
As for the electronic gear I'll be bringing, I'm hoping to keep it to the bare minimum to keep the weight down:
That's about it..

Okay, I'll leave the pager at home.
LOL.....no portable hard drives, thumbdrives, extra memory cards, extra usb ports, rechargeable AA, AAA & camera batteries?
ah....maybe you can make some time to play the famous pin-ball machines...called...somthing...
The hot springs are also very famous, best time to go would be in the morning, like 8:30am or 9am, it would only take you 1 hour's time at most. And I believe they provide beverage, towels and massage as a package. :)

Aiya! Of course I'll be bringing the batteries and chargers for the equipment, lah!
Oh yah....remember to buy travel/tour insurance, just in case your stuff are stolen or get misplaced or plane delay etc.
And check out with doc if you need to get immunized or flu jabs before you go. :)
Bring your travel adapter!
