Yoohoo...is anyone living or has spent a substantial amount of time in Mexico, in particular Monterrey? I may be spending a semester there in about one year's time (student exchange), so some useful info would be nice. Cheers!
Nope, not me. But you can come visit.
Hola como esta
Dónde y cuando va usted a la universidad de México? Por que Mexico?

I've yet to learn Spanish.

You should be able to converse in Spanish within 6 months if you drop into Mexico without speaking a word. But I recommend that you at least learn the pronunciation
alphapbet and numbers that helps.
actually ironically i come to a conclusion that using Mandarin context to translate to Spanish is actually much closer than using English to Spanish.
so i hope you are not there yet.....: )
Oh no, I'm not. However, my classmate's mum is coming over for a visit. I haven't yet informed her (the daughter) about the current home quarantine measures, however, as she's abroad.
I'm travelling to Poland in June, and it seems that there'll be nowhere on earth to run away from Type A H1N1.
Babe, I've got a Berlitz Spanish for your trip Audio CD with a small thin booklet.
You want? I ripping it into mp3 now. Bring your thumbdrive or ipod/mp3 player and I transfer to you. Can also photocopy the booklet for you.
Well H1N1 is definitely here to stay.
Well when she is here ask her to make Tamales. I personally think that Tamales is an acquired taste. But my preference here in LA is still street Beef Taco. But they are really unhealthy it will clog up artery in no time.
Oaxaca (Wa ha Ka) chillies chocolate...has its unique taste but i think that is near the outbreak province.

Wow which part of Poland are you going too? Warsaw or the other cities? Went to Szczecin and Warsaw for some time ago and intend to visit Poland at the end of the year. Your first time to Poland?
That would be nice of you, VK, thanks!
I'm trying to cut back on my voluntary consumption of farmed meats, especially given the scares that have arisen from factory-farmed animals over the past 15 years. It'd be rather difficult to see her, much less cook, if the gahmen herds her into the quarantine centre for a week, since she'll be here for only 3 days. Her daughter received my text though.
I'll be in Mazuria district, Warsaw and Krakow. It'll be my first time but a girlfriend who's a Warsaw resident will be with me.
Poland eh ! Enjoy a pint of Zywiec or Tyskie while you're there... !!
KB arh...
You want to throw me a thumbdrive or a mp3 soon? I should be off to Macau and China next thurs.
Over the next few days, and coming weeks even, I will only be available in the mornings and evenings.
Ben: I'll be sure to try the pilsner but I'll be taking home the mead and the zubrowka.
It's been a while since I've been to Monterrey, but it is a fairly modern city, with a beautiful downtown. There is quite a large expat population due to the location of overseas manufacturing plants of US, Japanese and Korean companies. For food, the local speciality is cabrito, a 15-day old baby goat that is roasted on an open fire. The restaurant they recommend going to is El Rey del Cabrito.
