Hi to all Singaporeans in Melbourne,
Calling all Singaporeans in Melbourne. I would like to arrange a meetup for Singaporeans (Malaysians are welcomed too). This will be a good opportunity to meet new friends, network with fellow Singaporeans and find out more about life in Melbourne. I have been living in here for a number of years and can give advice/tips to newbies in town. The meetup will probaby be at a cafe in the city in Feb.
Those that are interested, please email me at [email protected] with your contact number, your residence surburb and the dates that you are free. I'll try to arrange a central location that will be most convenient to everyone.
Cheers
Simon Wong
Hi Simon, it's nice of you to organise the outing. So are working or at uni? Are you here for good too?
Hi honeymouse,
Yes I'm staying and don't intend to go back. I migrated to Melbourne more than10 years ago. I live in the eastern surburb in North Balwyn. I'm now working with a Aussie software company. Enjoying Aussie lifestyle although I always stop over in Singapore whenever I'm on holidays.
I am in Ringwood North. So you are in IT too. My husband is also in IT. Do you work in the city?
Fortunately not. Parking is ridiculously expensive in the city (which city is not) unless you have a company car park. I work in Hawthorn, ten minutes drive from my home.
I'm glad I'm not taking public transport. As you may have read in the news, the trains here break down when the temperature goes above 35 C. What the....??? Unlike Singapore, things don't run smoothly or efficiently here all the time. Welcome to Melbourne and all its quirkiness.
I am one of these people who catch public transport to work every day..... so yes... tell me about it.
Actually, Lilydale/Belgrave lines are not too bad as compared to others so I should be thankful. I think they service Hawthorn area too except during peak hours they skip Hawthorn station.
Okay I'm going to arrange the meetup on 21 Feb (Sat) in the city. Venue and time will be emailed to all those who responded. If anyone who can't make it on that date, please let me know.
I know what it is like to be 'blur' in a big city. If you wish to join in, please feel free to email me at [email protected]
See you there.
me used to stay in ulu bushland

Hello friends,
It's autumn here in Melbourne and the leaves are bursting with fall colours. The temperature is also gradually turning cooler and the days getting shorter. I think it's a great time to plan another meetup. The first one was fun and interesting.
I'm hoping to plan another one in the May. Those who are interested to join in, please email me at [email protected]
Cheers
