For me, I might need to move to another country because, SG making things difficult for my husband to settle, immigration issues of course. Love SG but cant afford to be away from hubby? Im disowned from my country coz Im married to a foreigner
Anyone with the similar situation to share?
You can disown a country but a country doesnt disowned you.Its your choice to fully choose where you want to live on this planet and so whatever you are going to do next is probably the right hting to do.
i thought sg is the most foreigner friendly country in the world?
u get hordes of foreign workers and residents living very well in the heartland. please explain your situation clearly. thanks.
newdude... from your nick i presume you are a dude... you have a husband. singapore no like gays. so too bad.

Im forced to leave/disown my country becoz they cant accept my hubby. They dont care that they are actually breaking up a family. So no choice family is more important. Just hope that I'm able to adapt to live in another country...
tsk. US is so gay-unfriendly. compared to canada =D

Tks for the concern to know more.., well they only approve certain nationalities like China, Philipines some India... My husband is from Middle East, We got married in May08, applied for his long term pass, rejected applied tru MP rejected, now still pending appeal since July. He's having entry visa which need to be renewed mthly and always have to face some snobs answer their sarcastic questions at the checkpoints.. Most of his friends with the same nationalities with kids somemore, their PR, work passes, long term all rejected. Work passes even worst, applied tru MOM website within less than one hr rejected. They simply dont care abt the families they are breaking. after all of us are human beings with feelings? Thats why I said its difficult to settle here. And I might need to move.. my husband cant take it anymore after so long not able to work... Almost 90% jobs here requires PR and higher chances for a PR to be approved u must have a job..
And Im a female lah!!! The nick is just a nick hahaaa
Any advise or similar experience are welcome :)

If I can, you can too. Though when I get to thinking about food....
sorry to hear about this but there isn't much you can do except keep trying till you get through. tends to be harder when you're not of certain races. read about some others like you in the papers previously, took them decades to get their wives into sg

really? how so? they didn't approve him with a PR? can you appeal?
edit : btw, i know of a friend's friend who tried 13 attempts and finally got his PR. and he is ang moh leh. so, you may wanna try again? i don't know the criteria but you can talk to them personally. i am sure there are common rules but also case by case exceptions? good luck!
Thanks all for replying.....
Jetta, food is another major thingy... how can I live without our type of food, but like u said if u can do it so do I..
Starry, thanks for the advise, thats quite a good one.
Oldbread, yeah, if only they are fair..
Littlestreams, I dont know and Im already expecting a baby, maybe will try to apply PR after giving birth. But most of his frens did and got rejected so many times some even with kids. So shocking that they can afford to separate a family and we wives have no choice, either to stay apart or move with them.
Tks for sharing the story..13 times no joke man ... ,his frens told my husband during one of the interview with them, officers said that they are protecting their country against terrorism, and all of them are terrorist.. I dont encounter that yet, but if I do can I take any legal action on them? hahaa what wishful thinking, but I know i need to do something..
If there are lawyers reading this pls help to respond, and if you are one of those authorities who keep rejecting innocent ppl,if our family is broken, you are the main cause of it!!! and we'll nver forgive u for that... Would u do that to yr own spouse or family???? please be fair, at the end of the day we are all humans too..

Wow this is sad to hear. Now I worry about the future when we finally decide to move back to Singapore. Argh! Damn Singapore! And it's even more sad to hear that they make it so hard even for people who have children! What a nasty country we're in! newdude: Maybe you should seek a lawyer's opinion?
Hi Starry, thats life for some of us now, my worst nitemare so far..Dont know what will happen next, living in anxiety all the time, visa approved or not bla bla ... I didnt know its that bad. I felt sorry for my hubby and frens, I hope they will continue to be strong despite all these treatments in Singapore. For me I will fight all the way, and stand by each other no matter what... Seeking lawyer's advice soon who knows one of the forummers here is a lawyer ...... . Starry ur case might be different. As long as ur hubby is not from Middle east, and both of u holding a very good degree, they wont reject lah..
wtf...am absolutely disgusted to know pple can say such things...
but oh well...those 'random' strip searches in air ports...all the 'random' people picked are brown-skinned =|
does your husband hold a job in his home country now? If you don't mind me asking...where in the middle east is he from...?
i know of these 2 families who have moved from Kuwait (but they were lebanese) to Canada recently. one family has gotten their citizenship (took them about a year). one still waiting.......
and if you really want to move, food really isnt a big deal. haha. there are many other factors to consider. esp since you have a baby with you also...

Hello, thanks for the tots..
Yah he had a hard time answering their questions, after all he is a tourist with an approved visa. He deserved some respect. If they are not welcome. Then dont approve their visa so they wont get into this country, just to get some silly treatments with the checkpoints..
Well the story goes like this.. He ever visit Spore and fell in love with this country.. so he went back and cant forget spore.. We met at clarke quay and since then keep in touch..
initially I've said no to him many times, but his strong determination and his character moved me alot, hes one of a kind and even now I dont regret marrying him coz he is really nice and I believe will make a good father too..
One of the conditions to marry me was he need to settle in singapore. I only said yes when he just signed a new contract with a new company for one year. He breached it and needs to pay a lum of $ to his employer. Then he flew over and we got married last May08
One fren of mine promised him that he can get a job in his company, after checking he realised that his company reached the quota for foreign workers..
Till now its hard to get a company to apply workpermit, s pass or employement pass.. even so high chances it mite get reject, coz his frens were experiencing it now.
I dont mind to share He is from egypt, and before this working with british company in Egypt exploreworldwide.uk as a senior tour leader over there, then as a general manager in one hotel.. Having a bachelor degree in tourism and hotel management in Cairo Uni.
I never like to relocate but after this yah like what u said food does not matter anymore as long as we are peacefully settle somewhere.
Thanks again!!
I see, but still if hes not from middle east, I dont think they will treat him that way.. well for sure Ive to do some planning now.. U rite , why shd I be patriotic since they dont appreciate it? :)
our dear PAP lor
Wow so surprised no more response hmmm.. guess Im the only few who is having the prob with ICA and SG.
