The family and I will forgo turkey again this year for chicken. Can't stand turkey meat, takes too long to cook too. Would be nice if we could drive up to Seattle to be with family this year but gas prices are too high still and times are tough.
That aside, anyone here has grand plans for Thanksgiving?
NO TURKEY ?! Chicken is always good to have.. What are you going to do with the chicken ?

What? No turkey?? That's beyond sacrilege! Thanksgiving without turkey is like... like... Thanksgiving without turkey!!
(Okay, so I suck at metaphors!)
As for my Thanksgiving plans, my former college roommate, Frank, is flying up from Huntsville to spend that week with me. Weather permitting, we'll probably spend a day up along the north shore of Lake Superior in the club plane (which I currently have reserved for all of Wednesday, so the bloody weather had better cooperate!!!).
Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, will as usual be spent with the family of a very close friend whom I've known since I came to Minnesota in '91. He's invited me to his house every year for Thanksgiving since I got here.
We'll probably throw in a visit to the indoor gun range on Friday, then we have a couple of mutual friends driving up from Iowa during the weekend, and the four of us plan to take in a Vikings game at the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis on Sunday.
That's about it, really.
MG, pics of the flight please! =D
happy thanksgiving to you all =D
i had my turkey a long time ago already. hahaha. and to ben: they are going to eat the chicken >.<
MG! do you have the 'minnesota accent'? heh heh

Will do so gladly, assuming the blardy weather between here and the north shore doesn't drop below VFR minima on the day of the flight. This is, after all, Minnesota, where one can sometimes experience all four seasons within a 24-hour period...

Oh bloody marvelous--you just jinxed it. Now you just know there'll be a howling blizzard on the day I have the plane reserved.

Except for cold cuts, we all hate turkey man. Having to cook that thing just takes too damn long. Then having to recycle the bird in various concoctions for the next how many days is just rubbing salt into the wound. Chickens rule!!!
Apart from the usual sides, I make mac & cheese and some stir fried veggies. That's about it. But the best thing happens after Thanksgiving dinner. That's when I drag out the tree and start decorating the house. Now *that's* dessert. hahah

Turkey Cranberry Sandwich, Turkey Soup, Turkey Pasta, Turkey Salad, Turkey everything !
Chicken is nice.. but it's sooo small.
Mac and cheese is always welcome in my tummy. Do it with Perigord Truffle, Duck Confit, Parmesan Reggiano, Telaggio, Fontina, Radicchio and Baby Arugula. That is how we do it at work.

Guess what? My neighbour gave us one free ticket for a cooking lesson at Sur La Table. I had the hubby go in my place since he doesn't know how to cook. Wah, he came back with a couple of dishes. He had a great time and once we are able, both of us are going for lessons together.

Alright if hunting is not your foretaste than why not use little Cornish. The meat is nice.

Mr Jetta doesn't cook. He only knows how to heat things up. After his class at Sur la Table, he's thinking of taking another class. The one he's interested in is, how to know which knife to use. I'm also thinking of joining him but we have to wait till after the holidays. I always overextend myself during this time of year and this year is worse.
