- Flying there via Qantas (for 20kg limit) and then fly back via Tiger
- Qantas both ways

It is usually less expensive to purchase a round-trip (i.e., "return") ticket as opposed to two one-way tickets. However, most return tickets usually specify that the outbound and return trips have to be completed within a certain number of days of each other, unless you purchase an open-ended return ticket with which you can make the return trip anytime after the outbound one.
Open-ended return tickets usually cost more than two one-way tickets, though.
Thanks for sharing! How about if I purchase a one way ticket to go there, and then purchase return tickets when I decide to come back to Singapore? For example, Qantas from Singapore to Perth, and then Tiger from Perth-Sin-Perth?

You are welcome!
If I were you, I'd first check with Qantas to find out how much time they allow between the outbound and return flights on a return ticket--it may be several weeks or even months. If it is still valid when your semester ends and you decide to return to Singapore, then it would be cheaper to purchase a return ticket initially.
If not, then you could just get a one-way ticket to Perth, and buy a return ticket for when you want to return to Singapore. If you're planning on staying in Singapore for a protracted period (say, over an extended summer break), then you might also want to check that ticket's maximum time allowable between outbound and return flights.
Thank you so much for sharing! :)
2 way is cheaper =)
K wait, have you got the visa yet? If the visa is not in your hand yet, they wont let you fly with one way ticks from Singapore. You need to show proof of return date with another flight ticket. (preferably a printed schedule from the airlines in question.)
If you do already have a visa, then one way ticks are probably cheaper since they do not have that 6 months or 1 year limit to use them return ticks.
How much is that tiger charges for luggage?
I am expected to get the visa next month. As long as I have the visa, they will allow me in with a one way, right?
I doubt I need extra luggage space when I go Perth-Sin-Perth. Here are the charges for extra luggage: http://www.tigerairways.com/travel_info/luggage_upsize.php . Looks pretty reasonable to me.
