I'm so glad I found this forum,
I will be moving to Boston MA in Dec. I've never stayed outside singapore before, it's a big move for me. Basically I'm going to the states for a better exposure and experience due to the the industry- type of work I'm working. I'm still young (in my 20s) and I wanted that living abroad experience.
But I'm really confused when it comes down to income taxes in US/Boston. I really do need some help on that. I got a link regarding taxe from one of the treads.
http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/international/article/0,,id=104997,00.html
But after reading it, I'm still confused.
From what I heard the tax is 30%. Is there any other taxes that i need to pay on top of that as well.
"Generally, a foreign person is subject to U.S. tax on its U.S. source income. Most types of U.S. source income received by a foreign person are subject to U.S. tax of 30%. A reduced rate, including exemption, may apply if an Internal Revenue Code Section provides for a lower rate, or there is a tax treaty between the foreign person's country of residence and the United States."
Please help.
.....
Take 1 step back.....do u really need to take your 1st yr income to be that level of complexity?
Don't just focus on a single point of problems to solve ? Pls read the other threads that we shared on moving to the US.
If your sources of income get to complex to define even for a first yr. You can aways engage an accountant to get thru the TAX. Pay for the service
Pls read thru the other thread.
I had kopi with a fren last night.
He was rejecting certain contracts that requires him to be working in Chicago USA.
From what he tells me, the company is required to provide for tax services in USA and you can request for compensation of tax service required in Singapore.
What does your work contract says?
request for tax equalisation lor..... dun have then dun go lor..
