If your Singapore dollar is weaker, the price of your imports will also be higher (Singapore reliance on imports is very high).
I am not blaming everybody and anybody for the fault of the economy, I am specifically blaming the P4P government for it.

1) Apple sets the price of ipods, based on the degree of risk in the country, currency risk could be the basis why our ipods are priced much higher than USA or Hong Kong.
2) Government manipulates the exchange rates through foreign exchange intervention.

Ever since the Iran vs Israel hoohaa over enrichment of uranium, rumours of an attack on israel and Saudi arabia overpricing a wrong grade of sweet crude oil as well as increased demand by China and India, oil prices rocketed up. So in short ...expect everything to be expensive.
