Hey there :)
I'm an American Citizen that grew up in Singapore. I hope to live in Singapore as it is very much home to me, and I'd love to be able to work there as soon as possible..
I'm looking for an entry level marketing position (graduating in May) but it seems that many of these jobs only consider Singaporeans and PRs.
Does anybody know how I could go about returning? Are there any ways I could find employment opportunities?
Your advice on this matter would greatly be appreciated.. thanks so much~~
Congratulation. May i ask from which college or university?
i think there are some approach that i would do that might help to start.
1) As you know there's a Job agreement under the FTA between uncle sam and SG on employment visa so there are organization within american community in Singapore only hired American.
Try the American Association, Singapore American Community Action Council to sort out jobs, they provide tips on working in asia. They are located in American club along Scott Road.
2) SG gov have been trying hard to Psycho Singaporean Graduate to return to SG to work. So you might try contact TDB in L.A. maybe they can hook u up with companies. After all it is Talent that they are looking.
3) Try contacting american companies here that has international office in Singapore. See if you can get you a jobs in SG. for a junior executive.
4) I assume you speak and write fluent Japanese you might be able to work as customer service for Japanese companies in Singapore. Employment agency that hired for Japanese company in SG would be JAC. If it helps.
A point to note thought you should know. Marketing in Singapore tend to translate into Sales. And you might not meet the profile as a foreigner.
