Merlot tasting like vinegar ? what label was that ?
I think it's was an Australian label. Wolfblass or something, can't remember if it was gold label or yellow label.
It's not really vinegar, but it has a sour taste.
I bought a Dow's Late Bottled Vintage Port just now.
when i was in sg i drank Aus wine. I there do go well with chinese food but they give u a kick in the head if you drink too much.
I still prefer the old world wine making that reduce the effect.
I dunno if some people actually taste their wines >.<"
Over the holidays we do share a bottle and my husband and I just keep our mouth shut because we think that bottle of wine taste awful (sharp acidic taste and certainly does not go down easy) but the others say it is such an easy wine to drink -_-"
Or they say the wine taste good when I think it taste of cork -_-"
Either I'm fussy or their taste buds dead
Btw I'm now allergic to alcohal so I don't drink. I just taste

I hate Merlot, taste like vinegar. *pukes*
maybe it WAS vinegar ...... oxidized already ...
you should go demand your money back if it tastes like that straight after de-corking ...

Don't think so it's spoilt, I have tasted other Merlots before, I just don't like Merlot.
I think Port Wines are still the best.
ha ha many time it might be a good start if you drink wine with Food. particularly red meat if you are taking Red.
But i would suggest start with White wine or Rose with pasta.
there are alot of ways to pair wine with food.. paring red with red meat and white with white is now just sterotyping wine paring. food has evolved so much now, the use of different spices in dishes. 'fusion' cooking.
one way how chefs and sommeiler pair food and wine is by regions. for example, if you are having an italian dinner, like pasta, pizza, risotto, go with an italian wine. a classic pairing for tomato sauces will be a chianti or sangiovese.
cream sauces depending on the cheese used can go really well with a chardonnay or even a pinot noir.
BBQ beef or even bbq lamb can be paired with a white zinfandel. some fishes, esp fatty or dark ones can go well with a merlot or pinot noir.. it all depends on what you really want.

but do u agree that most Singaporean taste butt have a tendency to go for sweet wine? But maybe it goes with the spicyness of the food.
I find the sourness of red wine is ideal with cheese.

maybe because sweet wine is easier to swallow?

I think most Singaporeans just like sweet stuff
Just like our Chilli Crab gravy, it tends to be sweet and not savoury -_-"
Char Kuey Teow is sweet
And we have to add ketchup into our Wanton Mee to make it sweet. (btw I hate ketchup in my noodles)
okay so weekend is coming, May I ask if you are to select a wine that suitable to your current weather condition what would u drink this weekend?

Viva Tequlia - Anejo
Anejo is what i drink, Had throw out Jose Curvo long time ago. But I guess Jose curevo is an entry level drink and better distribution.
don't mixed Tequlia with beer, drink Tequlia with friends is a loud drink. anejo is not for shots but drink solid.
Rum - True Religion as they call it.
Fifteen men on a dead man’s chest, Yo, ho, ho and a bottle of Rum
I had my last glass of 18 yr old Rum and call it a day after 8 shot of tequlia. I think a famous Rum would be Jamica appleton but if you are travelling down Nicaragua, Honduras, Jamica you can sip along Rum as you tour and end your tour in Cuba. Cigar and Rum.
Personally i don;t care much but i prefer Gold and Dark Rum they smell nice. I also happen to think that they do make good cooking.
