which will you pick?
a one hour stopover or a 5 hours stopover?
if it's just one hour, IF there are no delays for the initial flight, it's fine. but flights now do nothing but screw up...err...and im always afraid i cant find the gate....or worse! the connecting flight is in another terminal and it's far away :x
but 5 hours is a VERY LONG time to spend in an airport....alone. the last time i had to spend 2 hours alone was boring. dead boring...haha
have a lil faith in the system...1 hr wil probably be more than enough time
5hours i choose
dun tell me it's PDX portland...

depends on the country.. US/UK, i'll take the 5 hours due to the fact customs takes forever to clear ppl in the US and flights in the UK seem to always screw me over due to weather.
i normally just head to the starbucks and sit..
nv been to portland....
it's at hongkong airport. it's not too bad an airport. but im going to be flying almost 20 hours from toronto to hongkong. and i am soooo not in the mood to enjoy airports after 20 hours on a plane. cos i'd feel sick after being on a plane for sooo long....
and if i was taking UA or air canada, i'd DEFINITELY pick 5 hours. but im taking cathay =p which i usually trust...but....just. in. case. after all, cathay has delayed some of the flights i've been on before too....

portland airport is like the worst... so boring ! 20 hours to hk eh, i did that the last time i headed back to sg but with air canada. hk airport is pretty good.. normally have a snack then starbucks and back to sg.
dunno about portland....but i'll make sure i never have to be there. hahaha...
i dont wanna think about air canada for 20 hours....but if it's a big plane it's probably ok....
too bad HK airport is sooo far away from civilization. haha. otherwise i might see if i can make it out.

yeah, came back to toronto this time with NWA cos i was on a budget and had to land in portland.. did nothing for 2 hours. oh, i had wendys for breakfast.
my flight on air canada was pretty decent.. yeah it was a big plane. A340-500, had all the in flight stuff like the PTV. next time i fly back to sg will be on sq from NY.

mine was a 3 stop flight.. narita, portland and minneapolis-st paul then toronto.
flights with many stops are the worst....cos after a while, i kind of 'get used' to being on the plane. getting off and getting on AGAIN just screws it all up....
sq....i wonder if i should even check out the price. hahaha....a round trip from toronto to singapore and back again costs less than $2000 (inclusive of tax) by cathay...
i think customs are dreaded pretty much anywhere now...=\ but i think US is still the most *beep* one. based on what i hear. i personally have not been in the states for...8 years...????!!!!

thats what i normally use..
based on how i do it....i insert a website thingy.
then high light it.
the thing next to the tree thingy in the bar above, click that....
SQ IS VERY EXPENSIVE!!! hahahaha....
cathay is still the cheapest!! =p and if i get it from air canada website, i can find $99 air tickets to toronto. hahaha....
i had a delay once that force me to stay over night in Huston.

but they got the premium economy class flying out from nyc.. air canada's service is not as gd as cathay so better off with cathay.
comfort and good service are not at the top of my list.
it's the $$$. haha. im very poor =( heh...
issit the 18 hours straight flight to singapore? no stop overs...??

then fly NWA.. quite cheap but no comfort at all ! lol !
yeah it's the direct flight from nyc to sg. longest non stop flight in the world..
when i get rich or win a few millions in some lottery, i'll take that. hahaha.
from the websites that i checked cathay is still the cheapest ...maybe it's the times that im flying.....i dunno...
they used to be cheap AND! give us 2 free nights in hongkong too. no more two free nights anymore =(

yeah, i remember those free hk stop overs. my sister is flying thai over to nyc in may. she said it was cheap too. direct from bangkok to nyc.
just stay away from NWA.. eeeyuck. when r u flying back to sg ?
i think i've taken thai airways once or so before.......but cant really remember. maybe asian airlines are cheaper...haha. i have no idea. im flying end of April/early early May too =p JUST before the crazy summer rush.

alot of asian airlines are better then the rest of the world imho.. not forgetting the new middle eastern airlines.
yeah it'll be cheaper then.. last time i went back to sg was in aug and it cost me $1850cad for air canada.
I'd personally choose the one hour layover.
If, for whatever reason, the flight gets in late and you miss the connection, the airline will usually put you on the next available flight (not necessarily with the same airline) heading to your final destination.
It happened to me once, a few years back, when I was returning to the US after visiting Singapore. I was booked on NWA all the way (SIN-NRT-MSP, with a connection at NRT). Due to radar problems, the flight left Changi three hours late, causing me to miss the connection at NRT. The NWA staff at NRT were ready for this and had rebooked me on a Delta flight from NRT to PDX with an NWA connection to MSP. The transpacific leg on the Delta MD11 was actually more comfortable than it would have been on the old 747-200s that NWA was using on the same leg at the time.
