Thanks! Truth be told, it was no more emotional of a week than any other. Citizenship was the next logical step after permanent residency, and it was just a matter of time before I took it.
(If there was any emotion to emerge from the naturalization, it would probably be relief that the whole process was finally over!)

Certainly a lot less than $64 million dollars! The application/processing fee I paid back in June last year was $400.
(And I think I timed it right too, as the fee went up to $675 on July 1, 2007! )
Hmm
Will you give out red eggs when your baby is born?

Congrats MG ! ... that's a big step to take ! ...
Not before taking the oath-- though I wish I were in Cuba right now, given that there's a howling blizzard blowing outside at this moment...

$400 is pretty good... think it's higher in Canada..

The worst kind: taxpayer status without the right to vote.

Ha? Um... what is the significance of red eggs on the birth of a baby?

To quote Buzz Lightyear: Are you mocking me?

Err.. that your wife will continue to have eggs to make future babies?
Went down to the local post office today to apply for a passport; I am now $100 poorer...
Apparently, the State Department has caught up with the backlog of passport applications, as it now takes them between two and four weeks to process an application. My only concern is that the original copy of the naturalization certificate had to be submitted with the application (it will be returned together with the passport).

My SG passport expires sometime later this year. I'm entertaining the notion of renewing it at the Singapore consulate in DC, just for grins and giggles.
Cuba has free healthcare, doesn't it? That might be a good enough reason to visit.
yeah but do u trust the treatment?

yeah, i wouldn't trust their healthcare system... i had a classmate who was from cuba.. scary stuff from what he tells us..
congrats Meia.
Finally received my passport in the mail today!
I submitted the application on Feb. 13, meaning that the total turnaround time (inclusive of "snail mail" transit time) was exactly two weeks. Not bad, considering the State Department was quoting a processing time of between two and four weeks for new passport applications.
