As I was watching this last night, I was half tearing, half smiling. I have to tell you that the yearning to return home peaks every time I see anything about Sg food on US tv. I DVR'd it so that I can torture myself again and again.
However, after watching the episode, I had one burning question: How come I've never had Tulang before?

The show does bring a smile. I invited co-workers and friends to watch and they are now very intrigued by the food culture in Singapore. And now, we are known as pple who has an opinion about eating.
However, I do think that Tony wasted time filming in Aurum. The new-age food idea is splendid but not the hospital theme. Let's see how long this restaurant can last. -

Aurum @ Clarke Quay. Owned by Edward Voon, a top chef from Penang. Fusion. Science of food, whatever you want to call it. But seriously. Using wheel chairs to eat? Straits Cafe is located inside Grand Hyatt, I believe. The concept is great for introducing friends to Singapore cuisine w/o having to scout around the island for food.
The chicken rice however is quite debatable. Apparently, that's what Makansutra listed as top ten. I am sure there are others just as good.

I haven't been back since Aug 02.
For now, our life is here too. Though we have been toying with the idea of moving to Shanghai or Taiwan. Moving back to Singapore is out of the question. The show brings back memories but beneath it all, we know the society can't offer what we want. Hence we are here.
Yes we have kids. 1 black widow (not hiding in a garage corner but literally as a pet), 1 tarantula, 2 rats and 1 betta. Our dwarf hamster recently passed away.
