  I think Tony Bourdain has been to Singapore at least 3 times. We accidentally caught an episode of Cook's Tour last night on Food Network TV last night. That was a 2003 episode on Tony visiting Singapore.

  Apparently, he visited Singapore again in 2005 but was never aired.
  
  But for this upcoming season opener, I wonder if it's an episode put together from the 2003 and 2005 trip. Or did he revisit Singapore during 2007...?

  for those that are still in exile .... take it from me .... the average standards of Singapore hawker food has gone to the pigs. .....
  
  too many east asian immigrants working the woks at so many kopitiams and hawker centers .... the standard is really really bad now .....

  Fatum, interestingly enough you got me thinking of a conversation I had a while back. Eventually, the uncles and aunties who use to run the good hawker stalls will have to retire. Their kids will most likely choose different career paths. This boils down to the dying art of cooking that very special dish, unless of course they hire temp workers to continue the work.

  I don't think these were just hired temps ... many food stall nowadays are run by these economic migrants whose cooking skills just plain suck .... reminds me of those chinese take out joints in NA where they give you ketchup packets with your sin chow noodles ...
  
  right now I think a lot of these migrants are out just to make a quick buck by bidding for a stall ... and the standard is really really bad .....
  
  I threw away a packet each of char kway teow and oyster omelette I tah bao'ed just the other night cos it was just plain horrible, and I'm not going to waste my calories on bad food ....

  No it wont as long as the ethnic hainanese like my mum still prepares it now and then.
