go ski resort got other options mah. go cinema, what other options neh? btw, we got 2 free cineplex tix and for the first time in 7 years, we actually enter a cinema!!!!

har? oh, 'cos earlier, no snow storm and not snowing much. so not enough snow on ski slopes. gotta blow artificial snow to make it soft and cushiony for skiiers and boarders. otherwise if hard snow, quite easy to catch something and then tumble and fall. not nice. -

Cold weather doesn't necessarily imply permanent snow cover. There has to be precipitation (i.e., snowfall) to provide that snow cover. Ski slopes and resorts require a certain grade of snow on the ground. "Old" snow tends to compact down over time (from its own weight and the weight of skiers) and become hard and crusty--not ideal conditions for skiing. The artificial snow that's generated ensures that the slopes retain a layer of soft, powdery snow that is suitable for downhill skiing.
The artificial snow is generated by blowing a fine spray of water under great pressure into the air. The cold air freezes the water in the spray, which then settles on the ground as "snow."

like: it is such a vast area, can they blow enough artificial snow?
first of all i wonder if i have got the artificial snow on the picture correctly or not... they are the few white dots in contrast with the trees?
very hard to imagine the establishment blowing enough artificial snow over that vast area loh...
hehe pai sey... tropical people a bit hard to imagine all these...
i remember a friend telling me that they have to spend lots of money to go up the mountain to skii
i said they are all free snow what
why need money
then he said need maintenance and operate the cable cars etc etc

eh, when u were down under, u no go ski resort meh?
yah, it's costly. i tink ski lift tix are like over C$100. so a day at the ski resort can easily cost one about C$150 plus this plus that.

there is paintball too. i rem u do paintball?

I've noticed that ski resorts, in general, are rip-offs. By the time you've forked over the cash for admission, the lift ticket, and equipment rental, you're easily back a few hundred dollars.
You might make out better if you buy a season pass and have your own ski equipment, but you're still talking a fair chunk of change. Downhill skiing is a spendy sport. -
i'm with you, MG........it is indeed an expensive winter sport. i rather go bowling.

We were thinking of heading to this place called Big Bear to introduce the kids to skiing and snowboarding but you know lah, cannot take leave during this time of year. If all goes well, we'll try in January. -
not really. it's that you kena stucked to listen to 2 hours of time sharing thingy and then you get freebies of this and that.
but it was a good break. driving around and relaxing. we actually enter a cinema, first in 7 years!
God is great. the weather was so good, especially in terms of driving condition. the snow storm came after we got home.
