How to obtain a Singapore Police certificate of conduct?

The Singapore police requires a notice from the immigration office of whichever country you intend to apply a visa before they will issue you with a Singapore police check certificate.
My last Singapore police check certificate is expiring soon and I know I will need it again when I am overseas so I am trying to apply for a new one now while I am still in Singapore as it only last a year. The issue is that I don't have any notice for the Singapore police to obtain a police certificate.
Are there other ways around it? -
u mean exit permit?
certificate of conduct is a certificate which certify u have served in your NS in SPF before, that is, well, ages ago(1970+). the current cert is call Certificate of Service. -

I applied for it before and know the procedures, just wanted to find out how people who requires a new cert in order to prepare all the documentations of visa application before actually applying to shorten the application waiting time.
They call it the Certificate of No Criminal Conviction (CNCC) and one of the requirement is as below;

Documentary proof from the immigration authority requiring the certificate. (A print out of the application requirements is not acceptable.)
I will not have that obviously but would like to get a new cert while I am still here as the procedure for applying overseas is very cumbersome with fingerprinting and everything. -

why is there a need for a document in order to get a CNCC?
When overseas agencies requires Singaporeans to have a CNCC before they can approve anything?
So which comes first?
Does anyone one in SPF actually has any idea how difficult it is to get a CNCC when the person in question are overseas?
This blardy cert has to be acquirred when the person is in SG! And to make matters worse.....its not required untill the overseas agencies felt so....especially when it comes to Asian People from Asian COuntries.
Can you imagine, flying 24 hours in a plane, landed somewhere, and while trying to get paperwork done thru immigrations and other agencies....suddenly they see that you are Singaporean, ask you for a CNCC?
And CNCC requires that paperwork be submitted to them before they can issue?
And we still have to pay $$$$????? Its not cheap!, about the price of the International Driving Permit. -

Available. All male Singaporeans or male permanent residents of Singapore who have served in the military should have a 'Certificate of Conduct' or 'Certificate of Service.' This certificate is obtained from the branch in which the applicant served. Please check the Ministry of Defence's website http://www.mindef.gov.sg for links to the Army/Navy/Air force. COS or COC is a cert to juz certify u served ur NS. -
Its frankly a nuisance....especially since the Embassies are not able to issue such a cert for its own citizens.

Guys I need a new one because the expiry date of the CNCC is only a year from date of receipt. I am planning to renew a visa while I am overseas and by the time my current CNCC would have expired hence requiring a new one. It will save alot of time if I am able obtain a new one now before they ask for it when I renew the visa. It is alot less trouble if I am able to get one while I am in singapore.
Also for people overseas, you can actually apply for it (given you also have a notice from a immigration office requesting for it) BUT you would need to go to a police station where there is a approved fingerprinting staff to take a full set of your fingerprint before sending it to singapore police with a money order.
The issue for overseas people is that not all police station are able to do a full set of prints and if someone is not in a central city where there is a central police station you are stuffed especially when you are in a more rural area. It means you would have to travel to the main station just to get a set of fingerprints done be it by plane or hours of driving.
Most countries doesn't require you to have any notice in order to apply for a criminal check cert!

I had to get one many years ago, but my memory is fuzzy on this. It was called a background check (could have been known as something else but the Americans call it such so that's what I remember i as). From the time of application to receipt, it took about 2 months. I remember having to go to a police station in Chinatown to get this done. I can't remember if I paid a fee or not.
We were moving from Japan (where I also had to get one done, took about 2 months too) to get stationed in Hawaii. I was told that I couldn't move there directly without getting that Singapore Police background check thingy. And that I had to be in Singapore to apply for it (rules back then, may differ now). So I had to spend 3 months in Singapore waiting for the paperwork before I could move. There were many other things I had to get done too. $$$$$$
I do know that if you've lived in one country for more than 3 years, you will need a background check from each of those countries. (Those were the rules then, don't know about now.) HTHs. -

Yes there are foreign gov required to have foreign nationales who works or resides in their country to obtain the police certificate. Just because major countries like US and Canada or European countries does not required doesn't mean that the rest of the world would not required. For your information most central America countries required the police certification that you don't spit on gums and other stuff....
You should approach the Sg embassy take a while to get it. -

No is by right you need to have a valid reason WHY you need such a cert.

But yes that's EXACTLY how you should do it. Being in Singapore, just drop by your friendly local police joint and apply for it. -
I'm trying to recall what I had to do to get my CNCC when I applied for skilled immigration back in 2002, but I certainly didn't have to turn up to the cop shop personally - I was on a bridging visa at the time, which did not allow travel out of Australia. If memory serves me right, I went to the local police station in Meklbourne, got my finger and palm prunits taken, and then the cops sent the prints and request for the CNCC straight to the SPF.
I wasn't too fussed about SPF knowing that I was ammplying for immigration, but agin, IIRC, they do require you to state a purpose for applying for the CNCC.
