Hasn't it though? Hope you're nowhere near the Malibu fires. Take care.Originally posted by VSE:Glad you ok, jetta.
The weather in West LA has been on the "weird" side lately. There is sun but cloudy for the obvious reason. Felt like I am in a sauna or something.
Just the one in Camp Pendleton is what we're hearing so far. The Harris fire (the first one) was started by a downed power pole. Downed by strong Santa Ana winds. Another fire was started by a car with a broken transmission, on the side of a road. There were sparks and that started a fire. San Diego county is a very dry place. We're supposed to start our rainy season soon. Aside from that, it hardly rains here. The joke is, because it hardly rains here, when it does, people don't know what to do.Originally posted by Fatum:they are saying it may have been arson ... the FBI's on it ...
Thanks for check up on me Faturm. Can you believe it? The next couple of towns to the north of us were affected. The towns to the east and south of us, the same. Nothing happened to us at all. Our skies were hazy for about a day and a half and we had very very little ash "flurries". That was it.Originally posted by Fatum:so how's the situation now jetta ? .... haven't seen you on msn since before the disaster ......
good good ... as long as all's well ....Originally posted by jetta:Thanks for check up on me Faturm. Can you believe it? The next couple of towns to the north of us were affected. And at work, people are still buying appliances.
Speaking of snow, bet you're going to miss the white stuff. And fishing, skiing, etc, etc.Originally posted by Fatum:good good ... as long as all's well ....
oh well ... since it doesn't snow there, ash would have to do huh ...
I don't think so ... probably not yet ....Originally posted by jetta:Speaking of snow, bet you're going to miss the white stuff. And fishing, skiing, etc, etc.
All this shedding... pretty soon it'll all be gone. But you'll still find yourself trying to shove what's left into your suitcases. So when's the happy day? Bet your parents are beside themselves with anticipation. All this talk about going back. The hubster and I have been talking about this. Since he's now a government slave, as soon as a job opens up in Pearl Harbour, we're going to take it. Of all the places I've lived in, Hawaii is the one place I really really love.Originally posted by Fatum:I don't think so ... probably not yet ....
I sold and gave away all my fishing stuff ... rollerblades, nets, tackle bags, lures (at least, whatever that's left after my car's break in) .....
I need a break from everything for a while before plunging back to the real world with a vengence ... the current plan is to load up my northface 80 litres and go roam about for a while after I've gone back ....
good ... I can visit you all there ... and this hawaiian nisei chick I once met in bangkok 7 years ago ....Originally posted by jetta:All this shedding... pretty soon it'll all be gone. Each time we have to move, I look forward to and dread the goodbyes. Leaving Hawaii was especially hard for all of us. As our plane left the island, my eyes just kept looking at the island below us. I was so fixated, I didn't realise I was tearing. But then new chapters are always exciting. I've always enjoyed the first week in a new country, new environment. Now that we're retired here, I yearn for that. Our three year San Diego anniversary is creeping up soon and I know it'll be strange not to move. Have fun saying your see you laters. Take lots of photos hor. Even of makan places, stores, etc.Originally posted by Fatum:good ... I can visit you all there ... and this hawaiian nisei chick I once met in bangkok 7 years ago ....
soon perhaps ... probably before the end of next month ... I'm doing the circuits around my friends now ... beer every night ... all drunkards ...
to be honest, it doesn't feel like a home coming ... things are going to be a lot different now after so long ... what as familiar would have become strange ... but it'll certainly be the beginnings of a new chapter ....
neways jetta, would you become the mod of this place next ? ...
hawaii sounds nice ... except for the fact that they have more rocks than sand ....Originally posted by jetta:Each time we have to move, I look forward to and dread the goodbyes. I'm right now viewing places for sale on Oahu, in anticipation. A friend we met in Hawaii got stationed here too. I just talked to her last week and she told me that they will be retiring in Hawaii and are currently making arrangements to head back.
Me? Take over your mod role? Only if there's nothing to do.
