Arapahoe, good thing we're a Navy family because several times now, we have been randomly picked for military evacuation drills. We have everything packed into both cars and are ready to go if and when we receive the reverse 911 call. Thanks for checking.Originally posted by Arapahoe:Jetta where in SD county are you? Do you have emgency pack such as picture and ID info, insurance paper ?

If you check www.nbc.comtoday, you'll see how wide the devastation is. We have been asked to conserve energy use for the next few days because the fire took out part of our power line and our power grid has been compromised, especially the largest one. So I won't be online alot but I'll check in every few hours.
well remember this when the fire Jump you only got half and hour to pack and leave.Originally posted by jetta:We've just realised that we have a telescope still in its box. The hubby and kids are unwrapping and assembling it. Once they've done that we're going to train it in the direction of the plume of smoke we've been seeing all day today.

The air quality in my neighbourhood has gotten hazy but things are okay. We are glued to the news and so far 1000+ people have lost their homes and 300,000 have been displaced. Sad, sad, sad.
It's now 9pm California time. The family and I are okay. Nature has been kind to my town. So far we haven't experienced any of the strong Santa Ana winds, except for a slightly lower air quality and some ash "flurries", we can't complain. We're supposed to be conserving energy so I'm only checking mail once every few hours. Will check back in later. Thanks for checking up on us.Originally posted by SpeedStar:i saw news from the internet and it said abt 1 million ppl was forced to flee in san diego, think suituation is going for the worse. It's Camp Pendleton and it's about 50-60 minutes north of where I am. Reports say the fire on the base might be arson.Originally posted by Arapahoe:Hey r u living near the vicinity of camp Penington ? hear some part got fire this morning.
