Oooohhh... Chicago. One of my favourite cities in the US. Even seriously considered moving there after I finished grad school some years back.Originally posted by SpeedStar:I am going to downtown chicago this weekend. Any of u guys have recomendation to those must go places?

In no particular order:
Museum of Science and Industry
Shedd Aquarium and Oceanarium
Lincoln Park Zoo
Art Institute of Chicago
Sears Tower
Hancock Center
Field Museum
Navy Pier
And if you have time and the appetite, ask around for recommendations for restaurants that serve Chicago-style deep dish pizza. If you've never had pizza where the layer of cheese was at least an inch thick, you've never really lived!
enjoy your trip, speedstar. i've been there but with a tour bus. and that was like in the late 90s so forgot liao. but remembered going to this town, i tink german town or something.Originally posted by SpeedStar:I am going to downtown chicago this weekend. I think I have mentioned some of the interesting one inside my PM to you...I think chicago is a nice city for you to sit inside a coffee shop and drink coffee while watching the city unfolds in front of your eyes
Can go chinatown if you want to eat dim sum, I can suggest quite a nice one for you...it is called 3 happiness if I am not wrong
Navy Pier is a must...but again it is very cold when you go near Lake Michigan...

There's also a Malaysian restaurant in Chinatown, called Penang There can eat things like nasi lemak and roti prata, but be prepared to spend a lot. One plate of Yong Chow fried rice costs me like USD 15 (inclusive of tax I think)Originally posted by SpeedStar:My colleague told me he did not heard of that place before. tornoto? Hahahahaha, I have been told that the weather is 100 times worse than here (ok lar, exaggerated abit). The car might not be able to start the next morning during winter times....Originally posted by littlestream:wah, stay so long ah? liddat, u shd make a trip to toronto. once u come here, u wouldn't wanna go back. or actually, u won't believe this is ang moh country.
i tink 8 hours drive. not sure. but many students (some s'poreans) living in ohio make frequent trips to toronto to stock up on chinese non-parisable food.
Oh yes, this one has been mention by my colleague here. In fact my colleagues are from penang and they told me they offer one of the best laska in chicago. Taste close to the one in penang.Originally posted by rainee:There's also a Malaysian restaurant in Chinatown, called Penang There can eat things like nasi lemak and roti prata, but be prepared to spend a lot. They sold bah ku teh here!!!Originally posted by jetta:Aiyoh Uncle. So excited for you! You finally get to leave beautiful Idaho for the big city. Congrats! I've never been but from what I hear, the winters there are horribly cold and windy so go prepared. The food is yummy from what I see on the Food Network. There is a famous cheesecake there (forgot the name, sorry). Pictures hor.
