Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving?Originally posted by littlestream:Well, it's Thanksgiving this weekend. I am having a party on Saturday. Sit down dinner for 8. In the company, there will be 2 ang mohs, 2 South Asians and 4 M'sians.
I am getting nervous planning the menu. Must I really serve turkey?
Got suggestions for menu not? Thanks ah

or buy the duck, then put your own decorations and 'make it your own'.
thanks, MG but me don't know how to cook turkey.Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving?
You might want to throw in a turkey side dish for the sake of variety. Not a whole turkey like what's served here for Thanksgiving, but perhaps just a turkey breast.

me no like turkey. besides, it's so hugh.Originally posted by dumbdumb!:turkey is over-rated. its so dry, dunno why ppl like it.
That's what always happens with us too. But for the past few years, we've gone with chicken. The only turkey on the table is just a small piece of breast meat.Originally posted by littlestream:me no like turkey. besides, it's so hugh.
my girlfriend told me that during thanksgiving, she always ended up with :
turkey sandwich
turkey salad
turkey fried rice
turkey pasta
turkey this and turkey that.
take a whole week or more to finish the dang bird. sometimes, gotta freeze up the food too.
What u need to do with left over turkey including the bones is to make turkey soup.Originally posted by jetta:That's what always happens with us too. But for the past few years, we've gone with chicken. The only turkey on the table is just a small piece of breast meat.

aaahhhh............brilliant!!! brilliant idea, jetta!!!Originally posted by jetta:I know you said you're going to serve Hainanese Chicken rice. Before you said that I was thinking, how about a roast chicken? The rotisserie kind you find at supermarkets? For sides, a little bit of east and west. How about some mac and cheese, a salad, green bean casserole, garlic mash potatoes with gravy on the side, pumpkin soup (?), etc. HTHs.

yah, we have our thanksgiving earlier. for you, i believe is november.Originally posted by Arapahoe:thanks giving already!!!
Turkey is good so long as you cover your turkey with aluminium foild when you bake. Only take out the foild 30 minutes before you take out. This is just to get the browning so that your turkey will look brown from the outside and juicy from the inside.
Get a Goose for a change.
