Just knock off my passenger side mirror yesterday when i was doing reversing and my whole side mirror assembly was damaged and detached from the car only leaving cable attached. I wanted to removed the side mirror assembly but it looks like it involves in getting the door panel out before i can remove the cable. The problem is I cant remove the panel altot I can see there is a clip on it. I also afriad i might damaged the clip as its make of plastic might incured other serious problem....Now the side mirror assembly is hanging outside the car, v troublesome when i have to drive.
I need ur guys advice whether its better to find out ways and do it myself and risk damaged the door panel or get it done by the mechanics. I heard the mechanics repair is v expensive here in states.....
Hi, SS!
I think we need more information before we can offer any assistance. Specifically, what is the make and model of your vehicle?
However, I can bet you dollars to donuts that you do
not have to remove the door panel to unplug the cable going the motors in the wing mirror assembly--it wouldn't make sense from an assembly-line workflow perspective to
not have the wing mirror installable as a completely separate unit.
There's probably a detachable electrical connector right at the motor unit inside the mirror housing, or an in-line cable connector that can be accessed by pulling the entire wiring harness a little ways out of the door.
A few years back I had to remove the passenger-side wing mirror on my (then) new Nissan Sentra SE-R to have it repainted as I had stupidly entered the garage a little too far to the right and caused the mirror to nick the side of a workbench. The entire mirror assembly came off with just a screwdriver and a little prying, and the wiring harness was easily unplugged from the motors in the unit.
