to those who smuggle live animals.. for crying out loud please THINK before you do such things!!
you are bringing an animal full of organisms/bacteria/virii which the native flora and fauna have NO DEFENSE against!
it is the same way the Europeans brought smallpox and other diseases which wiped out the indigenous people in the New World!

I think if you bring in some loose stash in a small plastic bag, should be ok.
Neat boxes of chewing gum is no no.
But I have brought in some boxes, of 10 packets of chewing gum each, in my luggage, by walking through customs as nothing to declare. This is in addition to the "personal consumption" stash I carry in my backpack.
Done this many times, so chewing gum should not be counted.
later little bit ask u turn out ur luggage and baggie saw 1 pack of chewing guy and have you fine ??? The custom will be having congession then.

1 expensive packet of dried scallops, 1 packet wasabi biscuits & 1 packet soya flavoured biscuits costing me a staggering $100/-.
The custom officcers didnt even ask me any questions. -
