But...he does a rather slow sport...Originally posted by jetta:That's why Buick's got Tiger Woods hawking their wares to dispel that lack of image.
Long life Brey! I was doing that just as you were suggesting.Originally posted by breytonhartge:hey jetta, why don't you start with the pic?
The "Auntie" car isn't in contention.Originally posted by Kuali Baba:I'm inclined to pick the Subaru, sans the Outback trim.
Then it'll be the Jetta.Originally posted by jetta:The "Auntie" car isn't in contention.
Sorry Brey. Forgot to add that the Outback isn't a contender. Pick again.Originally posted by breytonhartge:And the same to you Jetta, Long Life!
Which car? I am with Kuali Baba. Subaru Legacy wagon. If he can stretch, the blitzen version is really nice.
Or he can go with the 3.0 liter... really nice car, I drove one. Really liked it!
how about a good used BMW E46?Originally posted by Kuali Baba:Then it'll be the Jetta.
Selling yours off?Originally posted by breytonhartge:how about a good used BMW E46?
nope, I drive an E39 5 series.. .Originally posted by jetta:Selling yours off?

You've triggered my memory. Wow, so how much did you end up getting your baby out of the ICU?Originally posted by breytonhartge:nope, I drive an E39 5 series.. .
I am very attached to my car, was considering trading it in at one stage when the engine overheated, but in the end, spent the money to overhaul the entire engine...
Auntie cars are game too now. Have you tested a Subaru yet? Seriously for your weather conditions, it's a great car.Originally posted by Fatum:actually hor ... I don't mind a station wagon at all ....
I can put a big esky case into the back, plus lots of fishing tackle, rods, etc, tents, backpacks, skis, what nots ....
but I did a double take when I saw that WRX station wagon .... automatic, no less ...
the car's for taking fatum from point A to point B everyday, most importanly to and from work ... I can pick up chicks sans car, so it doesn't have to be a babesmobile ...
for the local winter conditions, you'd need a tank ...Originally posted by jetta:Auntie cars are game too now. Have you tested a Subaru yet? Seriously for your weather conditions, it's a great car.
I am driving my little Toyota Echo (1999 model), 3 doors hatchback, manual here.Originally posted by jetta:What do you like/dislike about your car? What did you pay for it? Post a pic of it if you can?
I think the most important things to consider when buying a car are:Originally posted by Fatum:for the local winter conditions, you'd need a tank ...
I'll go take the nissans for a spin tomorrow and see how I like them ...
I guess that's the litmus test ... to see whether the car "talks" to me ...
What were the model years of the Sentras you looked at?Originally posted by Fatum:went to a friend of a friend's dealership after work today ....
looked at two nissan sentras .... I must say I don't really like the shape of the car, but the price tag's pretty irresistable, and it's an import ...
well, a civic was the first car that came to my mind ... for the money, a civic is probably the best value you can get in a car. But people were telling me that civics are too light for local winter conditions, when you get stuck in the snow it's difficult to extract the car and regain traction ...Originally posted by breytonhartge:Fatum,
According to your price point, you can consider a honda civic? But seriously, the cars look similar in profile from the side. The Sentra looks like a badly squashed Maxima. The accord is around the price range of a PT cruiser as well. It's a good car.
If you would consider a wagon, then the mitsubishi outlander? Its not a bad car for the money and the new model looks good (IMHO). Also the lancer falls in the price range of the sentra and civic. You can get an eclipse for not much more than the sentra.
How about a dodge caliber? Same money as the sentra.
The toyota camry is also around the mark of a PT cruiser. Not a bad car for the money you can get a V6 auto with ECT.
For around the pirce of a PT you could get a good used BMW 325i.
made in mexico eh ? .....Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:What were the model years of the Sentras you looked at?
Just an FYI: the Sentras from '91 to '99 were manufactured in Smyrna, Tennessee; the '00s and later were/are manufactured in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The Sentras are not known for having good rust protection, a factor to consider if you intend to drive it on salted roads in winter.
My winter beater is a rusted-out '95 200SX SE-R (basically a Sentra coupe), and my summer vehicle is an '02 Sentra SE-R Spec-V.
