M going overseas soon, to cooler/colder climes
Is it cheaper to get coldwear in S'pore or overseas? Hoping to get those which can be used both indoors(comfortable; subtle designs) and outdoors(performance fabric like Polartec, Goretex, etc). Have seen expensive versions at Campers Corner and some cheaper at Sports Connection/ Winning). Advice please?

You're almost always better off getting the cold weather gear in the country to which you're travelling. Cheaper overseas. Better to buy at your destination. The selection in Sg, IMHO, is ugly. Just get one nice coat here and but the rest overseas? I advise you to do layering for now. You dun need a super duper warm coat for now. Just get one thick-ish one then wear a very thin T-shirt, followed by a long sleeve shirt, followed by the coat. That will keep you warm enough.
I've ridden motorcycles in winter with that configuration (obviously I had woolen under short + a good coat) and I'm none the worse for wear.
btw: I've found wool to be the affordable best!
Disregard advice if you are going to norway, south pole, north pole etc. -
How about those coats at ZARA, MANGO etc?

and yes, I'd keep away from those "winter wear" shops in Singapore ... you're paying too much for crappy stuff .....

I am going Down Under. Either Melbourne or Perth. And a vacation to the highlands in Malaysia too
Sounds like a good idea to buy at the destination. And yes, I was pretty disappointed shopping at the winter/cold wear shops in Sg. Design and fabrics were rather unappealing. -

Just buy the light stuff, maybe a couple of sweaters or what. Then tahan until Christmas and go bargain-hunting at their Christmas or Boxing Day sales.
