You're almost always better off getting the cold weather gear in the country to which you're travelling. Prices will usually be better, and the selection available will be more suited to the prevailing climate.Originally posted by nympho:M going overseas soon, to cooler/colder climes Is it cheaper to get coldwear in S'pore or overseas? Hoping to get those which can be used both indoors(comfortable; subtle designs) and outdoors(performance fabric like Polartec, Goretex, etc). Have seen expensive versions at Campers Corner and some cheaper at Sports Connection/ Winning). Advice please?
Cheaper overseas. Better to buy at your destination. The selection in Sg, IMHO, is ugly. Where are you headed, btw?Originally posted by nympho:M going overseas soon, to cooler/colder climes Is it cheaper to get coldwear in S'pore or overseas? Just get one nice coat here and but the rest overseas? They are bound to be nicer looking overseas.Originally posted by nympho:M going overseas soon, to cooler/colder climes Is it cheaper to get coldwear in S'pore or overseas? Almost certainly not. And yes, the stuff at the winter wear shops in sg look absolutely terrible.Originally posted by missqi:How about those coats at ZARA, MANGO etc?
Good enough anot.
Those winter wear shops sell horrendous looking clothes.
As someone noted above, down under has the wrong weather!Originally posted by nympho:Thank you for your replies guyz!
I am going Down Under. Either Melbourne or Perth. And a vacation to the highlands in Malaysia too
Sounds like a good idea to buy at the destination. And yes, I was pretty disappointed shopping at the winter/cold wear shops in Sg. Design and fabrics were rather unappealing.
Here I was thinking you were heading to Europe or something. Isn't it summer in Oz this time of year?Originally posted by nympho:Thank you for your replies guyz!

Looks like your advice isn not applicable to me.Originally posted by scabstermooch:Disregard advice if you are going to norway, south pole, north pole etc.
Yes. If you are going to Norway, south pole, North pole etc, bring a few extra fingers - at least a thumb and one other finger! You're gg to need them to hold on to your beer!Originally posted by Kuali Baba:Looks like your advice isn not applicable to me.
