I had a granny in a Buick blow through a 4-way stop intersection earlier today. She didn't even attempt to slow down. Fortunately for me, I noticed that, and hesitated to cross the intersection when it was my turn.

Woohoo~~~~~~ we are having exceptionally high mercury reading!!!
Have been on the plus side and will be for the rest of the week!!! Yippeee!!! Almost Spring like. Very fresh air and nice to be outdoors.
We got 8 deg C yesterday, getting 10 dec C today and for the rest of the week? Hanging around 7s dec C!!! Ooohhh........Life is Sweet!!!! -

We're expecting a high of 44°F today, and it's expected to hit 47°F tomorrow.
Wish it could be like that for the rest of winter, but, alas, we'll probably be chest-high in snow come January.... -

The blizzard is going full force in Saskatchewan.
Roads And City Services
The Highways Hotline is reporting that all highways out of Saskatoon, Meadow Lake, North Battleford, Lloydminster, Kindersley, Biggar and Rosetown are temporarily closed due to zero visibility, blowing snow and drifting snow. Highway 3 east and west of Melfort is also closed due to the blizzard. Travel not recommended in the Prince Albert and Spiritwood areas as well as highways north out of Yorkton. The Prince Albert Airport is also closed.
Dispatch at one of the cab companies says the wait for cabs depends on where you are - some streets are completely blown in and the vehicles can't actually get to the addresses in question.
Jeff Balone, Saskatoon Transit manager, says they are no longer adhering to a schedule. Some buses are stuck and several roads in the city are now closed impacting routes. Balone says their goal is simply to make sure everyone gets home safely. Roads closed in Saskatoon include McOrmond Road and Kerr Drive have been blocked off so no traffic will be allowed onto Highway 5.
Preston Avenue, between Circle Drive and College Drive is blocked off.
22nd Street West and Diefenbaker Drive, which includes westbound traffic on Highway 7 and Wanuskewin Road and Adilman Drive for northbound traffic heading out of the city is also closed.
There are numerous intersections that have now been closed.
Those are Kenderdine Drive and Kerr Road, McOrmand Drive and Kerr Road, McOrmand Drive and Highway 5, Preston Avenue and Perimeter Road, Preston South and Circle Drive, Wanuskewin Road and Adilman, Warman Road and Circle Drive, Attridge Drive and Circle Drive as well as 22nd Street West and Highway 7.
University and Schools
Classes are not completely cancelled at the University of Saskatchewan.
That decision is left up to the individual colleges.
As of early this afternoon, classes are cancelled at the College of Education.
If students need to know what's going on in their specific colleges they can call them directly.
The SIAST Kelsey Campus cancelled classes Wednesday afternoon and evening. Services are expected to resume Thursday.
As for the Public and Catholic School Divisions in Saskatoon, the schools remain open for now and meetings are being held to try to determine what to do from here on, but parents who want to pick up their kids can do so. YWCA is closing in Saskatoon on 25th Street and shutting down due to the blizzard.
Once concerned mom phoned the newsroom and says Dundonald and St. Peter's Schools are virtually inaccessible due to snow and stuck vehicles and she says parents need to start making provisions NOW to get their kids home.
The power has been out in a couple of communities West of Saskatoon for about 40 minutes now.
Crews know about power outages in Sonningdale, Arlee and Struan but can't get there until the weather clears. [/url]
that came in this mid-morning ... right now a lot more roads are closed, the bosses just declared that we're all free to leave work right now ... people are up front pooling cars to go home so that they can get an extra push to if (WHEN !) they get stuck ...

It's completely opposite over here in Melbourne. We are having very hot summer at the momentwith temperature soaring to the mid 30's at least twice a week. Bush fires are burning out of control in some parts of Victoria. Looks like we are going to have some hot days next week - forcast for next Tue & Wed is 39 degrees. Sigh. I prefer cold weather to hot weather.

but it's pretty dry to isn't it ? ... so you don't sweat (and smell) much .... which is good ... cos Singapore is hot AND humid all year round ... it's like living in a sauna ... -

Yes it's pretty dry here but you can still sweat just that it dries up (evaporates) rather quickly. I prefer the dry heat to the humidity we get in Singapore. At least you don't feel "sticky" as soon as you walk out of the building. However, you can easily get sun burnt here. I think it is more to do with the depletion of the Ozone layer.
Not sure about the smell though. But at least people here are more self-conscious about that and most of them use deodorant. -
i wonder how Fatum is doing at work? i can't imagine being snowed in and unable to leave...it'll be like a camping trip, except with carpeting, electricity, and florescent lighting.
