Fall Colours 2006

It's that time of the year again when the foliage starts changing colour to signal the inevitable onset of (ugh!) winter. I took a quick jaunt to a local park overlooking the Mississippi River to snap some pictures.
Cruising along Co. Rd. 42 en route to Spring Lake Park:

The colours haven't quite peaked yet, and I'll most likely be making another photo excursion next weekend, when the colours are expected to be at their most vibrant for this part of the country.
On the way home, crossing the Hastings High Bridge over the Mississippi River:
Driving home, I stopped by this new townhome development near my house that came up within the past year. Very elegant-looking three-storey units with recessed garages in the rear:

I find it the seasons a bit depressing ....
it reminds you of your mortality, how ephemeral life is ... maybe that's why old ang mohs love to run off to the tropics ...

There is always spring forthcoming, when everything blooms, regenerate, and there is new life again.
Clique, clique...but the glass can be half empty or half full.

I knew it was a long shot anyways ... grad studies is insanely competitive anywhere ... perhaps it's a blessing in disguise, i'm not sure how things would turn out for me a couple of years down the road with a masters but zilch job experience ....
oh well ... but it IS depressing sometimes ... when the day gets shorter, a chill's in the air, and everywhere life is dying or running away to the south ... and one is all alone .....
no worries ... with SO by one's side, fall would be the most romantic time you can imagine .... bought the jackets already ? ... -

It definitely won't be a bad thing to gain some work experience before furthering your studies. It's definitely easier to buy for women, coz the UK/Europe brands have unleashed their autumn/winter collections upon us...if only we can wear them here. -
BTW, are maple trees the only ones that turn red and yellow?

The colors this year aren't as vibrant--I think the unusually hot and dry summer we experienced was a factor. -
