Fatum's Fishing Thread ...

Walleye fishing at lake blackstrap ...
the side of the dirt track into the lake ... with the early morning mist still hanging around ....
blackstrap lake at 5am ....
makaning breaky on the back of the car ....
We fished with minnows, leeches and lures for walleyes and hopefully a pike or two, got a few strikes, and i fought a biggie that took my minnow lure for a while, but lost it as we were trying to get the landing net into position ...
but yeah, we caught nothing this time ...
...
once the sun came up high, the fishing shuts down, so we are bumming around till lunchie playing with the lures in my tackle box ... (friend hooked up a pike though). Still, it was a nice trip ....
next up ... fly-fishing for rainbow trout at a lake further afield with my new fishing nut landlord .... fish pics to come soon ! ...

Is there even any fishes in the lake? Or are you guys just unskilled?

1. Pull pin from grenade.
2. Lob grenade into lake.
3. Retreat to safe distance and wait for grenade to detonate.
4. Wait for fish to float to surface.

there are lots of fishies in the lake, but we got there a bit too late at 5am (sunrise's before 4am ! ) ....
once the sun comes the fishies retreats to deeper waters and fishing becomes a waste of time ... freshwater fishies are a lot smarter than their saltwater cousins though I did fight a biggie for quite a while, with squealing drags and all that (it was a nice northern pike, around 8 pounds), but the hooks pulled at the last minute, it was a barbless lake, so all reverse barbs have to be pinched down with pliers
but yeah ... we'll go for the evening bite next wednesday and I'll post up pictures of a fat walleye ......
(*koks campy ... I do know how to fish ! ... I've been fishing since 6 !

I'll see if I can dig around for pics of previous fishing trips first .... -

it's just some sandwiches .... and the "shampoo" bottle to the right is actually a bottle of berkley's walleye attractor scent .... our secret weapon ! ...

pinky, here's some fat walleyes, and some fishing pictures ...
went out to the same lake again, this time fishing through the evening and night ... caught a bunch of fish, the biggest nudging 5 pounds, will post more pics next week when I go up the wild north for a cabin trip ...

my friend and current landlord, casting lures, Russ ... my rod's on the right, I was feeling lazy then, so I was floating out some live leeches out ...
the lake at 9pm ....
Russ by the boot of my car holding up a stringer of our catch, we don't keep all the largest fishies, but some that swallowed the hook and didn't survive the dehooking ... the lake's limit for walleyes is just 2 per person, and all hooks have to be barbless ...
part of my lure collection, the best colour, surprisingly, was green ....
