hi,Originally posted by peenkbug:Hi there,
I'm a Singaporean female who's looking to move to South England in the future, maybe in 2 years or so, to be with my partner.
My concern is finding a suitable job when I've moved there, as currently I'm a graphic designer in Singapore, and from what I've read graphic design isn't as large an industry in South England. Maybe London yes, but unfortunately I am going to be somewhere in Portsmouth.
Are there are expats or Singaporeans living in England currently, who can give me some advice here?
Would you suggest a job switch or something else? I have this bad feeling I won't be able to work in the same kind of job when I go to England.

hmm.... depends.... if her partner is PR here and they r married.... think she can apply for 'dependant visa' or something like that... i think there will not b any restrictions for her to work here then... if not... below 30 years old, can apply 'workingholiday visa' (pls check the internet... to b applied while in singapore).. if not, then hopefully, get a job in UK that your employer is willing to apply work permit for you.... must say that they r not that very keen in doing that unless u have qualifications/skills in areas that they have difficulties in recruiting locals.... they need to prove that....Originally posted by mytimeoff:Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I saw your post. I am an 'expat' in UK for 8-9 years. I understand your concern. So are you entering the country with a work permit coz without that it's difficult for you to get a job as they require you to have one.
Maybe you can pm me and we can chat in detail and hopefully I can be of as much help as possible.
Take care,
