Finally In Seattle!

Yup, I'm finally in Seattle. Got in at about 11:45 a.m. local time after a particularly arduous flight seated next to an uncaring mother and her two screaming kids.
It was raining when we arrived, and it's still raining now. Some call it gloomy, but I don't mind rain. Keeps everything nice and clean.
The rental vehicle we were initially given had pulsing brakes which, while not a road hazard, made for an uncomfortable ride when coming to a stop. We returned the vehicle and the rental agency set us up with a better, newer vehicle (a 2006 Dodge Neon SXT). Drives great, but...
...the traffic here is RIDICULOUS. Once we were off the freeways, we spent more time stopped in traffic than actually moving. Fortunately, the sanity level amongst drivers here is pretty decent, and I did not see any middle fingers flashed.

More to come, but I can tell you right now that I am absolutely in love with this city. Tomorrow, we're off across the sound to Bremerton to visit the Naval History Museum.

Heh, Dodge Neon eh.. they tried selling that here a few years back, LX version.. was a complete flop.

The building in which the Kino store is located, houses a large number of other Japanese retail business, including a very large supermarket that specializes in seafood. We were there late enough in the day that they had discounted their sushi, so we ended up buying a boatload of that and having a sushi-fest back in the hotel room!
After putting some miles on our rental Neon yesterday, I think I know why the attempt to sell it in Singapore bombed: the car absolutely sucks on the road. While it has power-everything on the inside, it does not seem to have any power where it actually counts: under the hood. Steering is also very vague and indistinct, with poor directional stability. Ah well, American cars...
Well, we're off to the ferry terminal for the one-hour cruise over to Bremerton this morning to visit the naval museum there. And, yes, it's raining this morning. -

Enjoy dreary Bremerton. That's where we lived when hubby was stationed there. The views from the ferry are awesome. That's the Uwajimaya supermarket we always hit when whenever we visit. I was soooo happy when we visited it the first time. Isn't it fantastic??? Bremerton was, indeed, dreary, and the rain which lasted the whole day didn't help. However, we really enjoyed the 1-hour ferry ride over from Seattle. We also toured the USS Turner Joy, which was a Forrest Sherman-class destroyer moored next to the ferry terminal and open to the public.Originally posted by jetta:Enjoy dreary Bremerton. While at Bremerton, on the advice of one of the locals, we took a foot ferry over to Port Orchard for lunch at Myhre's (or was it Myhle's) Bar and Grill, which was recommended to us. Great fish and chips there! -

By the way, that is Northwest A320 not A319. The difference is NW's A320 has 2 emergency windows and A319 only 1. Hope this helps.

We got married in Port Orchard and are going to buy a house there in a couple of months.
