Was speaking to this Kenyan chappie at the cafeteria just now ......

and surprise surprise, he speaks english with an accent that's just like Singlish ! .... Razz

how did two geographically seperate populations evolve an accent that's so remarkably similar ? .... Confused

I can understand Singlish and Manglish being kissing cousins, but Singapore and Kenya ? .... Question

Now that you've mentioned it, i think you're right. Why is that so?

I'm quite afraid of them, coz they seem to have a different culture regarding talking to strange women on the streets and I've met about 3 of them who tried to chat me up...but dunno if they're African or other nationality (e.g. Nigerian...which also looks the same?). If they're really tourists, then I don't wish to seem like a dao1 local to them, but I dunno what's their intention, coz they weren't asking for directions. Confused
